1. Is ANYONE able to play on D3D9EX API WOTLK?

    Hey.

    Title says it all.

Is anyone able to play on D3D9EX API on Wotlk client AT ALL?

I am getting absolute trash FPS with this API for some random reason while others claim they are getting double FPS. I can't tell if they are trolling or whatnot.

I thought it wasn't utilizing CPUs or something; HELL NO they are utilizing 1000%.

So, is anyone able to play on D3D9EX?

  2. I am using it and have been using it for years. It increases fps a bit in my case but the difference is very small. It fixed some graphical glitches for me so that's the main reason I am using it. From what I have seen on forum it seems to be people with pretty new computers who have low fps with it.

My CPU and GPU combined is 1,200 USD and I can't have 60 FPS in 25men raids.

I actually want to end my life but I am trying not to, I really am.

I think you were in the previous post (about 3 months ago) too. Christ's sake this is like something that will never be resolved.

I am sick of people saying "it's CPU intensive game. Get over it." My CPU is cloaked at 3.5 GHz.. If I am under 2.6, I would be like "heh, normal" NO IT'S NOT NORMAL.

    Sorry I am upset.

  4. Fyi, here are the things I've tried.

    - Disabling Multi-Threading. (Hyper Threading) - Results in terrible mouse responsiveness. I don't know why. Hardware cursor does not fix this.

    - CPU AffinityMask set to only 2 cores that are both physical cores, not hyper threaded logical processors. - Doesn't seem to do much.

    - CVar gxTextureCacheSize - Set to my GPU memory. Doesn't help.

    - M2Faster, timingMethod - Doesn't help.

    - D3D9EX - Doesn't WORK. Btw, this might be because of Nvidia optimus system (Laptop system where Nvidia GPU supports the the Intel CPU/GPU.)

  5. Did you tried with OpenGL instead directx api? I'm using it from long time and don't have any problems on both linux and windows 10.
change SET gxApi to "opengl" in config.wtf
    SET gxApi "opengl"

  6. Yes, I have been posting in threads about that before. I have also tried those settings and there didn't seem to be any noticeable changes. But I am not trying to get 60 fps in raids so I didn't try much more than that. I think I am getting around 40 fps in raids, which seems fine to me for almost 5 years old computer (i5-3450, GTX 550 Ti, 16 GB of RAM, Windows 7). I can get more exact fps numbers soon since I am in a raid that is starting right now. And as I said, it seems to be exactly new computers that are having problems so it's a more specific problem and I haven't encountered it myself and haven't seen any working solutions.

  7. well im at ~140 fps normally and 60+ in mass AV fights which is more pressure than 25m raid while everyone casting, this with ancient gt 630
remember that the game itself is old, you cant use latest dx which will be best for new graphic cards since they're optimized for that, so you have to find the proper rendering api. something may work better for you, but on other card will not

  8. Actually that makes sense. New games have not been supporting dx9 for years now so new graphics cards might not be optimized for that. OpenGL is generally supposed to be slower than DirectX on Windows but I guess that might help if the problem is with dx9 support.

Edit: Since it's a laptop I would also check if it's actually using Nvidia graphics card for WoW not the Intel one since on my current laptop it seems more complicated to manage than it was before.

  9. Update on this:

I thought openGL was for debugging only. But I gave it a try, and memory reading failure. Can't even load up the world apparently.

    Gave D3D9EX another try. failed.

Gave an integrated graphics card a go (Not GTX970M) with D3D9EX, got something WORSE. (2 FPS Tops?)

And yes, I am aware of game using another graphics card but that is not the issue. I checked double checked triple checked, nope. Running on GTX960M. Got Nvidia inspector, clearly it is running on GTX.

I am requesting help on Reddit also. Some people say 4K Display might be the reason why. (Integrated monitor is 4k)

I will keep you guys updated. If you guys come up with anything, let me know.

  10. Unfortunately I haven't run into any issues while using it so I can't offer much help, all I can say is that it's on your end lol
I'm running wow on a single Radeon 6970, haven't tried it on a newer GPU but I will be in a couple months.

  11. 4K resolution is most likely the reason why you are getting low fps generally. Not sure if it could also be related to the problems with D3D9EX but that most likely wouldn't improve performance that much anyway. To test it you can try to lower resolution in game if you are using fullscreen mode. If you are using windowed mode you might have to change resolution in Windows settings or make the window smaller to test it.

  12. Ultra High resolution eats FPS a lot. And by a lot I mean miles more than any graphical settings you can tweak
