I can offer you few if you would like to win someone.
Yeah it sucks that people can buy LK25hc weapons which otherwise most of them would never be able to get, but considering most of the players on icecrown suck it doesn't really make that much of a difference, you can still easily outperform them with emblem gear and few raid items, and those you can't outperform would get the items they bought either way.
Yes, Lordaeron is better for serious play, people take raiding seriously and know their classes, but since you're playing with friends you should probably stick to icecrown since some of them may give up during leveling since it takes ages, know this from experience. Also when you get bored of a class you just make a new character and you're 80 in a day or two.
At least this is only time based pay to win, unlike cata where you can actually buy items that arent in the game itself.
Sorry maybe I'm missing something, but which items can you buy in Cataclysm that are not in the game itself? O.o
I think (and I'm assuming here as I'm too lazy to actually bother checking) the bug here is that the vendor is not selling the item.
A quick web archive shows that the item was sold by the Valor point vendors for 1250 VP.

Here's an MMO-Champion post using the necklace as bis:

So it would seem pretty clear that the item was in-game on retail, it's just missing from the vendor here, which is of course a bug. The item itself really isn't so game-breaking that I would call it pay2win, but you are correct that it is an item in the shop that is (supposedly) not in-game.
The only thing to do is to make a bug report and wait for the items to be added.
it's pay to win to an extent smourne warriors /rets can literally 3 hit most classes. Along with arena competition is pretty useless once u hit 2k MMR youll face people who script and when you make a ticket youll need to provide proof of them scripting which is almost impossible and if you do they get banned for 5 days and then they are back at it. Welcome to Icecrown. if i was new and didnt have gear and didnt plan to donate i wouldnt bother.
I've donated, but for two reasons : One, was for Glorenzelg HC, just because it's a pain in the *** to try and get that in a 25 hc group, unless you're consistently raiding with a decent raid team (my schedule doesn't allow for me to make consistent raid times, so I have to pug, a LOT, and I wanted to skip the headache of not being able to pug a LK 25 HC run when most people can't get past VDW or Sindy here....so...yeah...), and Two, I love the Frost Drake mount, and have zero plans of ever doing Arenas here, for reasons mentioned above, and I prefer raiding and the occasional BG over Arenas anyways.
I was about to donate for Smourne, but after they made the quest live, I 86'd that plan and just started grinding it out. Pretty close now, just have to do the PP, BQL, and Sindy quests, and then start grinding the shards, which might take me a while (schedule between school and work), but the sense of accomplishment when I finally have it will outweigh just whipping out my CC and buying it outright.
That said, I agree with just buying your BiS wep, and maybe a trinket or two, since those are the hardest to get, imo.
Plus, it helps the server as a whole, and the amount of fun I've gotten out of playing for free here far, far, far outweighs the $75 or so I've spent on the Warmane Store.
As for the rest of my gear, it's more fun to get it over time, imo.
I don't understand someone who just buys all the BiS stuff outright. What's the point of playing then? Aside from just getting the achievements, there's no progression on your toon, which is the whole point of the game. Killing Halion and LK over and over is kind of pointless if there's no reward for it, which is why I think you see people selling their BiS toons in Global now.
My two cents at least.
How those scripts working? Are those like auto interupt thing or? I know about it in pve where you have timers etc but in pvp... how they can make better decision than some skilled player?
Yes, auto interrupt, auto spell reflect, stopcasting poly/seduce when priest uses SW:D etc... All of those things are doable if you're skilled player, but scripts allow them to land them reliably and constantly. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
100% right, when you see a guy(class) who can kick/interrupt - all the time - any instant skill on a pally or else, you go make coffe and do something else more usefull :P
yep auto reflect from warriors auto bash/pummel auto SWD on poly/seduce etc etc
Agreed. This is why I made a Utility Rogue; the use of various items and geared that can completely alter the course of a match.
So far I managed to gain, 10 second silence aoes, sleep targets when dps'd, increase stealth range and detection, armor reduction around 3k+, tripling damage from 1 attack when proc, slow one's dps by 20%, make my poisons do 2 times the normal damage via procs of an old school trinket, etc.
I made my rogue this way because I'm tired of the same old, same old in warmane PVP, its always the same thing, so I decided to make my rogue as crazy as possible and I get so much hate for it too.
Methods like this trumps pay to win players. But it makes me miss vanilla/tbc wow so much tho :S
