WotLK Need help my game is bugged

I just had a crash when playing the Wotlk client and when I go back everything is set back to the first time I run the client but it's not a problem.
The problem now is in the chat box It does not list what I loot or profession point gain...etc. When I chat type in /s it does not show up in the chat box either. Must be bugged.
Can someone help me get it back to working as normal please?

Right click on chat tabs name (by default named General) and select settings. There you can choose what to show in that chat tab.
