PvP matchmaking for Icecrown players sucks. Should we get PvP gear through PvE?
Icecrown player here, leveling some alts, and fairly new in general to PvP.
Because of the recent changes to the PvP matchmaking system, which I found in https://www.warmane.com/devlog, if you belong to the majority of players who try to do normal F/PoS as soon as they hit 80 to gear up a bit, and therefore gather even a single piece of 3.3.5 gear, you're automatically placed in the higher-gear bracket.
This means, that your 3k or 4k GS fresh 80 character will face 5k and 6k players that will pretty much one shot you on sight, and feel like a thermonuclear explosion in your sphincter. Let alone when you're facing premades as part of a random group, as it happened twice tonight to my 4k druid. (It was sad to see most of our players leaving the BG and being replaced by others who'd also leave almost instantly.)
A friend and I tried to do some random BGs together and are both in the same situation. Not really enjoying random BGs at the moment. Every single game was a massacre. Oh, and also, we've lost pretty much every single BG since FM launched.
I really don't see any solution but to farm heroics, and use Emblems to purchase PvP gear. And to forget completely about PvP for a few months till we hit 5.5 or 6k. Someone pointed out that we can also do VoA once a week, for a few months.
But it kind of sucks to have to gear for PvP through PvE, and not to be able to enjoy PvP for some time.
Any advice in this regard? Am I missing something? Thanks!

Use your Icecrown druide only for PvE.
Its waist of time to do PvP as a non-donor on any other realm than Blackrock. On Blackrock you can recreate your druide with a 5,5k gs starter gear and you have access to all PvP content except WG.
Since you are only 4k GS, have you considered rerolling on Frostmourne? I know it's not the answer you are hoping for, but if I were to start over at Warmane, I'd start in the new realm just to avoid what you have described. If you are dead set on farming gear on Icecrown, you can farm EoT badges quickly in ICC 5 man normal dungeons. Between those and random heroics, you should be able to farm full furious set in the span of a few days. If you can, consider donating for a weapon and/or trinket so you will not have to raid as much (or at all). Also the Wintergrasp shoulders (ilvl 251) and the trinkets will give you some more resilience (1 to 2 week farm).

thanks for your answer, Mier. Yes, of course, donating would certainly be a workaround, but I'd rather follow in-game methods. Incidentally, the conspiracy theory that comes to mind is that this might be intentional to push us to pay to win.
Anyhow, I'll keep in mind the option to PvP in Blackrock and forget about Icecrown. Right now, it's painfully absurd to PvP against people 2k GS above me with the recent changes to the low-gear bracket.

Thanks for the advice, Jojo. Right, avoiding PvP in IC and trying in FM instead would be a solution, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to invest the time to level up again, especially at 1x, just to be able to do some decent PvP.
I think I'll go with the PvE way to get PvP gear, which is the only reasonable path I can see at the moment. I appreciate your confirmation, and the detailed advice on sets you mention.
Got to 80, bought bracers, was placed in the high bracket with 11k hp and 0 resilience.
The alliance are /dancing around me while I attack them, and the attacks are not even tickling them until they decide to one-shot me.
Decided to kind of chill in the corner because I can't really play, and got hit with a 5 Day AFK ban (although I can't really do **** except get one shotted)
Good luck people, I play for fun and this is awful

You're welcome. Frostmourne is also a 7x server, so it's not so bad, but starting over does kind of suck. One of the plus sides of Frostmourne is gold sells for more coins there. If you are able to farm gold there, it might be worthwhile in the long run.

GTFO bgs you afker lol. Go do some dungeons it literally takes one week of fos/pos to get to 5k gs and start being able to do stuff. Dont expect to leech on bgs till you are 6k. Did you farm a proffession to get your 78lvl pvp gear? Did you do wg weeklies? Did you go to fos and pos which are doable even with 2.5k gs and try to gear up fast?
NOOOOO. YOu just went and leeched at bgs. And then you are going to create a post how pvp is so unfair. Imo since we arent playing rated bgs brackets shouldnt even be a thing out of frostmourne. I was in favor of it a while back but after seeing the twinking going on the lower bracket it made me puke.. Just gear up with other ways. Its even faster lol.. One week at bgs is at most 3 wrathfulll with consant losses. While you could go fos/pos for one week and then be able to actually play the bg...
Well I'm really sorry but what do you expect from a realm that is online for years. I see that a lot of new people are frustrated, but keep in mind warmane actually took a stance and did something to try to balance things for newbies.
If this was retail, this is it, you will be far back than other people and you will be far more outgeared.
If you want a quicker catch up - Blackrock :)
