Undergeared 80 willingly went into BG. Lowbies are not trying to do PVP but level up.
You do not get HKs for killing lowbies so even that argument flies out of the window immediately.

No one forced them to enter PvP zone to level.
After a certain point farming HK is pointless. It just ruins the game for others. But hey, each to his own.

The game sorta did force them the moment they were forced to leave under 20 zones. PVP server and all of that. If they were trying to level in Wg then I'd agree with you.

Well, no one forced them to play this game. There are also ways to avoid or minimize the chances of being ganked, but you already know that.
Plenty of people continue to farm after having the 100k HK achievement.

Oh my god I can't believe we are discussing it once again... Ganking is allowed on warmane, if You want it or not (obviously for now).
I won't say how to avoid ganks, cause it have been mentioned like bilions of time here. You can still lvl up char on icecrown under 20h easly... Is it really this big problem? Im on warmane/molten for few years, lvled maybe 40-50 chars, maybe more. I don't remember more than 1 situation when I was ganked for, lets say, an hour. And im not avoiding crowded areas. Some can't get why people gank, so I'll try to show my perspecitve:
1) People are hunting for others 80 or lvls 74+, so they actually farm some honor - for example when they are a bit laggy or bored, its good to do something different
2) People are grabing maths, its boring in long term - can kill an opposite faction's player running nearby
3) People are ganking cause they have been ganked earlier on this char, or while lvling alt - its neverending story for both factions, players taking revenge etc (for example, there is mob required for quest. 1 ally is waiting. 2 horde at his lvl comes, kills him and this mob. He got angry, logs 80, kill all horde near. So the horde players logging 80, etc etc etc)
4) For some people its fun to annoy others. Its annoying, not hurting anyone. After all, its just a game. If you are felling so bad about the fact that someone killed You in game, that You are actually mad, writing mildly-rude posts on forum - maybe its not the ganker who have some problems with his mental health here, huh? I wonder, when You join new MOBA or FPS, there are ppl with 214142 times more experience, kills You every round in seconds, his K/D ratio is sick, are You joining forum and writing rude posts cause its unfair as well?
Seriously, some of You sounds like You have really big problem to differ a game from real life. Take a break next time when someone will annoy You in WoW, take a walk or something. If its really THAT BIG problem, well, we can't force You to play WoW, sorry. Maybe its just not for You.

I do. But after almost a decade of leveling around 30 chars and after about 1k kills gained solely from campers in Borean and Hellfire when I had to constantly hop onto my main to deal with them.
Dunno bout everyone else, but my only problem with gankers are people that corpse camp lowbies that can't fight back. That is borderline game disruption.

People are discussing it because they don't understand it. "For fun" is not a good argument, some people nail their genitals to wooden desk for fun. That doesn't help me understand what's happening in their brain.
Comparing BG and other games to ganking low lvl players in WoW makes no sense at all. If you are playing BG, MOBA etc. you WANT to fight other players and even if you are getting smashed, you can still fight back and do some objectives - splitpush, destroy towers, take points etc. However if you are low lvl in WoW peacefully leveling you DON'T WANT to fight other players and most importantly you CAN'T fight back or do anything. It's completely different thing.
Funny thing is that a lot of people mention that they are doing it out of boredom and then say something like "maybe this game is not for you" or "do something else". But it works other way around, you know. If you are so bored with WoW, maybe it's not game for you and you should try something else. Or somebody force you to play WoW?

Yeah right, YOU are not satisfied with something, thus it's YOUR problem.
"can't do anything" is lame excuse. Make it do "anything", get a bunch of friends together, gear up and go piss on trees in their territory.
Maybe no one want's to play with these eternal victims, that's why you can't do anything. I mean, how many times you have made a party to kill that ganker, thought up some plan? Or all you have ever done is complain? I know for a fact that if you put damn 5 mins of effort you can camp that ganker till he logs out.

1. This doesn't answer the main point of this discussion - why do they do that?
2. If you mean specifically me then I did a lot, I have BiS PvP multibox and I always help lowbies if they ask for help.
3. You know as good as me that what you are suggesting is not that easy. Logging high geared character or asking friends for help works only if you have already spent quite a lot of time playing. New players who are 20 hours in game don't have such options and it discourages them from playing here at all. Asking for help in global chat works maybe in 1% of cases, which is kinda sad.Edited: June 3, 2020

Come on, everyone knows main reasons why.
I mean people who complain all day and expect someone else to fix their world.
It is pretty easy to get a team togeather, remember that ganker kills a lot of players who come there. That means lots of people want to get back at him. Don't need to know everyone for 5 years. Not an issue in any way.
And you forget, players always have a choice, get shanked or gtfo, they are not getting where they wanted to go, time to adapt. Instead they spill their tears on forums - which only creates more gankers instead. How many gankers would be there if they would know that after 10mins they will get corpsecamped themselves? All this complaining breeds misery.

Not that easy if you are new to the game. And do you seriously think that gankers read forums? Don't be naive.
It is an issue if you are new. It is a mild annoyance at worst if you are a veteran.

Indeed. But my intensions were clear - to protect low players who don't want to fight. While intensions of gankers are still not clear for me.
And I thought it would be great but it was not. If I kill gankers, they just move to another part of the map and farm lowbies there. I can't be everywhere and I don't have time for that, I play maybe 5 hours a week and I want to level an alt, not spend time by hunting someone. It was all kinda pointless but at least I tried.
I wish there were some good PVE servers.

Yup. It's called asymmetrical warfare. I engage in it on a regular basis. Stay on the move and rekt lowbies in several areas/zones. By the time you return, their 80 protectors likely got bored and left. Or sometimes, even better, you catch them napping.
