Hey, so I was talking to some guys on the chat and this topic popped in. Some would say they use the new WoD models, others saything they like sticking to the classic look. But there were discussions of the legality of it as well; however, no one really knew 100% if it is alright or not.
So, can anyone please tell me if I can download the models, or should I not, because I could get banned?

You're allowed to have new models. You CAN get banned by using new models in arenas because it makes you invisible to some people. Keep in mind the "new models" launcher in the download section isn't actually new models. You'll have to download them through the guides on the forum. They were removed from the download because launcher had issues.

I noticed they are no longer included in the warmane launch. I saw the forum post where I can download the models from, as well as the installation guide. Hope they aren't outdated; guess I will see.
I don't plan on doing arenas, not very soon at least, I mostly want the new models since I spend a lot of time on my mount chasing achievements.

Wouldn't it be the opposite? This is, the player who's using the new models is the one who can't see other players.

As far as I know, the players using new models are the ones getting banned in arenas. The way I see people with old models don't have "new" models in their files so enemies are invisible.

It's the opposite. Players who use new models sometimes could not see the opponents because of issues with the models. If there were any bans, they happened because the player using the new models made a report thinking that the other player did something intentionally. The new models aren't separate. They were just updated existing models (probably with some exceptions in hair styles and facial features) so the players using the old models should always see them normally.
Download link for the new client was removed because of all the issues that it had. But those issues are specific to the client that was provided by Warmane. Most model updates you find on forum and elsewhere won't cause such issues.

While we are at it, may I ask what is the difference between the old and the new downloadable launcher from warmane? I think I have the old one, not sure.

Some time ago, the old client was the one that Blizzard released officially, and the new one was the client with the new models.
Currently, the old and the new client are both the same: the one that Blizzard released.
