When I first started the game it was in windowed mode so I changed it to fullscreen and set all my other settings. After awhile I decided to change it back to windowed mode and upon doing so the game got stuck at the black screen while changing graphics settings, after waiting several minutes I task manager killed the process. Upon starting the game again the black screen continued however I can hear the menu music. I've tried a few times and it keeps persisting.
I've looked through the install folder and documents folder to see if there was a config file somewhere but couldn't find anything.

Open config.WTF in your WoW/WTF folder.
Try either, or both:
SET gxWindow "1"
SET gxmaximize "1"

Sorry for asking the same question again. I did a quick search for Black Screen and no search results turned up.
I did notice that file after awhile and didn't think about the potential of having to add a new line, this will actually be perfect for me!
My friend actually did fix my black screen issue by having me share my screen via discord and he shared his screen back to me so I could navigate to enable windowed mode again which solved the problem.

Also, next time make sure you have a properly installed and working graphics card driver.
