But of course people will pretend "useless details," like how long the game has existed and how people's PvP experience isn't some sort of delusional bubble that will only be created once TBC starts on Onyxia, don't exist to try acting like they have a point in a discussion.
A lot of the arguments in here are mind blowing lol. This change is going to make the pvp scene much more active. I myself am from NA and I have a ton of friends that will be playing this realm now that there's an instant 70 server. Administration has mentioned multiple times in this thread that they will be monitoring the realms to ensure it is a fair playing field. From what I've personally gathered a lot of the onyxia people don't want any real competition in the competitive mode of WoW.
"a ton of friends that will be playing this realm now that there's an instant 70 server"
that is the issue!well one of them anyway..
why play onxyia why grind why raid when you can just go make a 70 on blackrock and buy gear from vendors?
some people buy gear on cash shop if they never see it drop or never have a chance at it.. like it goes to others in your guilde..
but now on blackrock you cna skip cash shop and use AP on items!
having one set of player "onxyia" have to grind rep and do attuments for gear an the like when blackrock players dont have to is beyond me...
would be so fun/cool and easy to walk up to an npc and buy berskers call for honor and not have to farm raids for it and compete with entire raids for one item.
So wait a second. What happened to purity on Onyxia? Now you want zerkers call to be available for arena points on the prog server to make arena more fair? Idk man, doesn't seem like the Onyxia community would like that.

You're misunderstanding. He's saying that those friends would either not play at all, or only play blackrock TBC. These new players aren't getting cannibalized.
Actually quoting me three times on that is proving my point, as I was referring to the usefuleness of the details in merit to the discussion - which is, indeed, non existent, as it could be 30 as it could be 100 hours. That was not the core of my comments.
I already implied that I had no idea how to run a server (no delusional bubble here), and I just raised some concerns hoping to get a constructive confrontation.

Trying to convince people that playing only one aspect of a game and have access to everything that you need isn't advantage that is delusional.
Still waiting on decision regarding ladder split so we can end this ****.

Nomen omen, I guess.
The only point he was making is that 1, 2, 30, 1000, 1000000 hours of BG farming (i.e.: the "requirement" for any relevant gear on Blackrock) is not going to have any effect on someone's arena ability.
If it *does have an effect*, that player was likely so new to the game that their presence on the ladder (whether they're playing from Onyxia or Blackrock) is not going to be impacting anyone.

Dude, your point was that when you keep using a number it's "aN eXaMpLe," but when I address what you're saying and use your example number it magically becomes "uSeLeSs DeTaIls."
Grow up. Your point is hollower than your deflection.
People already have PvP experience, they have had it for years. And if they don't have any, it's not Blackrock not doing PvE that will make-or-break anything, they have years of experience to catch up to. What you're trying to act like is a gotcha looks more like preemptively building something to blame when you're found worse at it.

So the ladder split idea is to include blackrock/Onyxia cross-play, but have separate arena title rewards between the two?
I mean... this seems so counterintuitive but it could work in some capacity depending on how the ladders look in season 1 and the reasons for them looking like that. If top 100 teams in every bracket is blackrock (it won't be), then I could see the devs exploring options to ensure that some Onyxia players can get their glad mounts.
Is this really affecting you Sunite or are you trying to argue just to argue? For some reason I get the impression that you may not be as interested in playing a ton of arena as you're implying. You aren't just being territorial and frustrated that others have the option to not have to grind PvE content because they don't have time to, right?

Blackrock players would not care at all about this lol. We arn't playing blackrock to have an "unfair" advantage as you keep saying. We just want an active pvp scene.

Holy **** I'm so happy you're on the dev team. Seeing through these types of arguments but also being open to considering other options depending on how events play out is what makes pservers thrive.

You keep commenting about how you will be behind Blackrock progression, but we fully intend for it to be the opposite.
Rated BGs is something we'd like to do, for the greater server as a whole as well, but we're not to that yet.
We won't be making custom changes to itemization for things like HWL gear.
To my knowledge, there already isn't any rating requirement on TBC pvp items in general.
i do keep commenting about gear on 2 different servers because i dont have the answers my questions about it.
i cant figure out why you want me to grind rep do attuments and the like for gear but black rock players dont have to..
Berserker's Call trinket as an example- on onyxia we will have to raid so that trinket right? hope it drops.. rngs.. raid spots progression who the gm lets have what...
thats what i will have to deal with to get the trinket right?
but on BlackRock players can just buy Berserker's Call from a vendor correct? when its added to game?
no rng.. no raiding.. no wasted time looking for raid spots and all that.. thats not fair or balanced.
black rock players will have 100% chance at Berserker's Call as they buy it froma vendor.. its always there..
onxyia players have to "win" Berserker's Call the old way? by raiding for it...?
see the issue? what if zkers call never drops for me? rinse and repeat with gold, rep, and professions...
rated bg's i think would be a huge hit even more so being only server with them...only issue is getting 10 others to group and not just run 2v2.. rewards have to be more/better then 2v2 or players "most" will go for the easy way..
rbgs also have less balance issues then arena i think
"We won't be making custom changes to itemization for things like HWL gear"
"buffing" say hwl gear to match naxx gear as an example would give players reason to grind bgs and would 100% get more people in bgs. thats the goal of blackrock right? more players?
im full hwl and have been i solo q' bgs pretty much any time i log in if you and other staff play? im sure we all seen each other in bgs.
but not every player "thinks" thats fun they need something to make them want to grind..why grind rank for hwl when one can get a better weapon from naxx or Temple of Ahn'Qiraj?
thats my point and one area that could be looked at if you are wanting "more" players in pvp.
even giving us something to spend honor on like uncut gems..just and example or health pots that can be used anywhere not just bgs.
"To my knowledge, there already isn't any rating requirement on TBC pvp items in general"
i can 100% say that there is rating requirments on gear for TBC and was here on outland as well.
if i remember right its 2200+ for weapons and shoulders...not sure about s1 but rating requirements is a real thing.
i asked how long would pvp seasons be for a reason = we have to save up ap farm gear and ratings..and buy gear to go along with normal every day playing stuff.. rep and profession grinds..
an now an arena server tied to onxyia will make hitting certain ratings all that much harder for the majority of people...
if warmane makes RBG's for my 2 fave servers.. classic V and TBC i would 100% be interested if/when
Blackrock merging is fine. Having people in full resilience sets of the bat is just an unfair playing field and means players from Onyxia will just get **** on until they finally get the gear they need to be competive, which is bad.
If they will have to do the same amount of grinding from the start of the merge we cool. If not its a very bad decision regarding pvp. Luckily Warmane pvp has been outstanding and we didnt have the fiasco that was our "high warlord grind".
Surely they will use their heads this time around.
