As many of you have noticed, we have a big issue with gold imbalance. Items on the Auction House are being sold for really low prices. If we compare how easy it is to earn gold in Warmane with how it was in Classic or Classic SoD WoW, it's clear that it’s MUCH easier to make gold with professions and selling items on the AH in those versions, especially to buy your first mount, than it is here on Warmane.
Things are even harder because leveling is faster, so we don’t have enough time to collect enough gold from quests to pay for basic spells or professions.
Here are a few more ideas to help fix the economy:
Increase the value of grey items sold to vendors, so players can make more gold from loot drops.
Add more daily quests with better gold rewards to give players more opportunities to earn gold after hitting max level.
Drastically increase the gold rewards from quests, making it easier to earn gold while leveling.
Drastically increase the gold drop from mobs outside instances, so players can earn more gold during regular gameplay.
Reduce the cost of mounts and training, so it’s not as hard to afford basic necessities.
What do you think? Do you have any ideas on how we can improve the economy ?
Low prices are due to TBC coming in a few weeks and everyone is trying to dispose of trade goods that will no longer have much worth to it, I don't see a gold imbalance, I don't agree with your take.
No one wants to buy your profession output because everything will be obsolete in four weeks. Also mount and riding costs do go down in TBC. Expert Riding goes from 1000g to 200g.
The entire economy will be scrambled with TBC. Be prepared for it and make money
I disagree with the previous replies, and here’s why:
No issues with the economy – Veteran players already have plenty of gold and mounts, so they don’t care about the struggles of new players. For new players, earning gold and resources is much harder.
Low prices because of TBC – While TBC is coming, that doesn’t explain the current issue. Ore, leather, and other materials will still be needed in TBC, and yet prices are too low now.
I disagree with the statement that "the entire economy will be scrambled with TBC. Be prepared for it and make money."
In reality, this kind of chaos will only benefit veteran players who already have resources and gold. They’re the ones who can take advantage of a shifting economy, while new players will continue to struggle. The "make money" strategy only works if you’re already in a strong position. For new players, this just means more challenges, as they won’t have the same opportunities to profit.
It's basically a "create chaos and dominate" tactic, which helps those who don’t need help, leaving everyone else behind.
He has a Point tho, the AH Economy is definitely broken i see some auctions sell below Vendor price like star rubys for 40s ( 50s Vendor price) you literally cant make good money off the AH rn unless you farm and sell 100 or 1000s of STACKS. You make the most Money AoE farming and selling to vendor than farm anything that has to do with professions
So? The auction house is driven by players. Supply and demand. If no one wants to pay what you want to charge that's completely a you problem and you have to come up with alternatives, nothing to do with the economy needing to be "fixed."
He's right about making gold at this stage of the game is next to impossible. Barely anybody is raiding atm. Raid consumes don't sell at all and those that do sell for very low price. Basically your choice is to donate and buy gold on trade or wait for TBC and farm gold then. Some tips I have for you is with TBC pre-patch horde will be leveling paladins and alliance will be leveling shamans. Low level items used by these 2 classes will go up in price on Nov 2nd. JC will come out with TBC a month from now, be ready for mithril, thorium, gem prices to spike.

Thats because classic has much more bots. Bots generate gold. More gold in the game = prices rising due to inflation. The fact that we don't experience inflation is very surprising and means that our economy is healthy.
Things are even harder because leveling is faster, so we don’t have enough time to collect enough gold from quests to pay for basic spells or professions.
You chose your exp rate. You can always slow it down. Personally i leveled my first char at 3x and bought mount at level 53. I don't think its an issue at all.

Keeping reasonable gold sink and gold income is important for economy to work well. These changes would only ruin the economy instead of helping it. Sure you could afford your spells and mount but everything on auction would probably double in price after month or two so in the end you would have to do same amount of quests or sell same amount of loot to buy the items on AH.
Edit : On that topic, maybe one time gold squish at release of TBC would be reasonable to reduce the gap between players which just came now for TBC and those who are here since the beginning.
I actually agree with you on the importance of keeping a balance between gold sinks and income, but that’s exactly why increasing the value of items on the Auction House is necessary.
Right now, blue and epic items are selling for a fraction of their value compared to any retail Classic version. The same goes for key materials like ore and leather.
Professions and valuable drops should be the main way to make gold, not leveling a mage and selling boosts.
By increasing the value of items, we’d restore that balance, making the economy more realistic and rewarding for everyone, especially for players who rely on professions to earn gold.
The Staff should not interfere with the server's economy. Item's prices should be determined by the market with the supply & demand dynamic. The only thing the staff should do is ban farm bots that affect the market.
Gold currently has value, and if you want gold, you need to work hard to earn it. If you want an abundance of gold, where every player has thousands of gold and can buy whatever they like, where gold doesn't mean anything anymore and has zero value added to the gameplay, go play mists of pandaria.
I'm sorry but this take is absolute garbage. It's more of a "i am new and im upset that people played this server longer then me and veterans have more gold then me so i'm behind" take. Same as with the Honor beeing reset.
It's just disguised under "i think the economy is broken"

What you're saying is partially true. Think from the perspective of a new player just joining Onyxia wanting to farm gold level toons for TBC. It will be very difficult for you since making gold in next to impossible due to economy being at a stand still and leveling is also a problem because RDF doesn't pop(at least for alliance). Same thing with boosting it relies on gold that's next to impossible to make atm. So basically if you didn't make your gold months and months ago. Your only choice is to donate and buy the gold on trade or NOT play at all. Kind of messed up. Oh and I am not saying Warmane staff needs to get involved and change something right now. Maybe for the next season of Onyxia tho? Who knows?
complaining about economy imbalance in a literal pay to vin server :D find better things to complain about mate.... no need for these changes, they wont ''fix'' anything
