1. Ninja Looting - Explanation for DPS and HEAL items

    Hi there,

I have reported ninja looter for taking dps item while playing healer.

His and even Ticket Master's response was that there is healing on that item, so he can use it.

We are not on SP datadisc and there is a reason for items to be "damage and healing" and "healing done by up to X and damage ..." - oterwise I would for example need for Etherium Life-Staff being a warlock without any consequences and thats just not right.

Could you please explain to me, why?!

    Thanks.

  2. What's the item?

  3. Diamond-Core Sledgemace from The Maker, but its about principle, not specific item - last time it was Terokk's Shadowstaff taken by holy priest - still the same modus.

  4. How is that *not* a healer item?

  5. You have to be kidding me, isnt it obvious that healer items are like https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=299...eum-life-staff and DPS items like https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=29988/the-nexus-key ?

Both of them have word "healing" in description, the same goes for "damage" - is that your reasoning? If yes, its pretty fked up logic.

  6. The item you first mentioned doesn't have crit, it has mp5. To me, an item with spell power and mana regeneration is more of a healer item than a dps item.

  7. We play on TBC - there is no unified SPELL POWER:

"Spell power is an attribute that increases the effect of spells. Spell power increases the damage amount of damaging spells and the healing amount of healing spells. Prior to Patch 3.0.2, the attribute known as spell damage would only increase the effects of damaging spells. Healing spells were only increased by the healing attribute."

  8. How is that *not* a healer item?
So Mp5 items aren't healer items, I guess. Any caster item can be needed by DPS as Mp5 isn't considered indication of healer item at all it seems, oh boy raids will be fun.

The Nexus Key - "Increases damage and healing done" -> DPS/healer.
Ethereum Life-Staff - "Healing done" -> healer item.
    Diamond-Core Sledgemace -> Increases spell power" -> DPS/healer

  9. Ethereum Life-Staff - "Increases healing done by up to 415 and damage done by up to 138 for all magical spells and effects." - that is their reason to take it even by dmger by their logic because there is this part "DAMAGE DONE" ...... wtf

  10. the op is referring to tbc itemization pre sp era, where the description 'style' of healing items have bigger numbers on healing and dps items dont say it like that.
where it makes more sense mp5 and spirit stat shouldve go for healer now, idk if its cultural thing or how blizz categorized it, its just how it was back then.
now the problem is i dont know if onyxia strictly follows tbc like it was on retail entirely, since we're on 3.3.5a client to begin with

  11. I did check the TBC itemisation of the item and it increases damage and healing all the same: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=243...ore-sledgemace

  12. forget my word about itemization cz i may have used that word wrong.
what im saying is, the healer items on tbc back then have the green description with the style "increase healing done by x and damage by y"
whereas the dps items have green description in the style like "damage and healing by x"

  13. its the wording pattern, not the actual meaning of the description.

sounds ******ed i know, but thats how people categorized between healing and dps back then

  14. @Morvion You are absolutely right, that is the issue at hand, it is TBC realm and IT IS the way you described. There is a difference and needs to be considered, otherwiser I there is no need to have ninja-looting rule at all.

I cannot understand why this topic stays unanswered by anyone that actually matters, like GMs or anyone else from the team.

probably cz people rarely care or remember much of something ancient like this, as warmane is specialized on wotlk. and like i said im not sure if onyxia strictly follows tbc loots distribution as it was on retail, because pretty sure it wasnt really vanilla when it was on vanilla phase.
and idk if said loots distribution was intentionally categorized by blizz or by the players, but if we look for that mace now, its even ccategorized as dps gear.
its even listed as dps gear on https://wowwiki-archive.fandom.com/w...er_DPS_weapons

that said, while i think this isnt big of a deal and u wont get the item anyway, and the reported person might have no clue either. i still agree that this worth to consider by devs/gms, just incase similar issue happen in the future.
