1. Is this ninja? Or I should've not been a team player.

Really need someone to help me identify if this is a ninja move.
Make it simple, get in an ICC25 team as an assassination rogue pretty much bis(missing clock and jar), but want to get abo jar and for 4xT10 build(really need hit rating to 400+).
And same time I am a fully bis combat rogue.
Beat first couple of bosses as a mutilate rogue and at Saurfang this team wiped due to cant kill adds fast enough.
So I swap to crog to help with it, at least way better than assassination rog. And kept playing crog due to this team lacking damage.(crog dps is better)

Guess what, after jar dropped, me and a ret rolled for it. I won, and they decided to ban me from loot and gave it to ret.
Why? Because I was playing a combat rog, jar is bis for ret. I need to ms change at beginning.

  2. If I understood right, combat is your main spec, assassination is your off-spec. Rolling need for something for your off-spec is considered ninja looting.

See the second point of In-Game Ninja Policy in the [Realm] Players Code of Conduct thread.

It mentions RDF but I'm pretty sure this applies to raids as well.
Edited: March 8, 2026 Reason: Clarification in case I'm wrong

  3. I think you should've told leader that you're switching to combat to help the raid, but still want to roll MS as assassin as you joined in as one. This happens all the time when tank/dps/heal switches roles midway, they are allowed to keep rolling for the spec the joined in as if they didn't change MS at the start. Rogue, despite being DPS only class, should be no different.

You could've just switched back to Assassin after DBS was killed.

I went in raid as assassination.
its my ms for this raid.

Actually I did, they wiped again at rotface, and I switched back to crog after because I know this team's dps is low.
Even with that, why bis >class? Why a combat rogue can't roll jar? Who defines what bis is?
And why I cant roll jar for hit rating as a crog?
It's not like a mix char swap between dps/heal/tank, CROG is also a DPS, why crog is not alowed to roll a dps item?

  6. Combat could roll TAiaJ just like any other melee DPS as MS. Though RL may've had some rules about it, I don't know, I wasn't there. Since you're BiS combat, RL most likely saw your trinkets which are well.. better for you (as a combat).

Unfortunate situation that could've been prevented with communication. This is why I said "I think you should've told leader that you're switching to combat to help the raid, but still want to roll MS as assassin as you joined in as one." This would've cemented the fact that you a) joined as an assassin b) roll MS as assassin.

You are right. But this is not a legit reason to let ret take the loot.
I don't think RL has the right to tell me which is better or not, since crog bis can vary. And I am doing it 4T10 which is not quite usual.
