So today i did ICC 25 8/12HC with my Shadow Priest, and everything went smooth, people did alot of damage and it was generally a good pug group.
Raid leader was threatening people with loot bans on Marrowgar if they catch fire and dont dps spikes eventhough everyone did everything fine. We got to Saurfang pretty fast. Raid leader told me on discord as a shadow priest, i repeat as a SHADOW priest to cast Divine Hymn while i was marked. I didnt understand at that moment that he asked me for Divine Hymn because nobody ever asked me for divine hymn, a healing abillity as a shadow priest so i casted hymn of hope near healers thinking that healers are low on mana. We did Saurfang HC first try with 0 problems and raid leader decided to loot ban me cuz i used "wrong hymn". When i asked him why should i heal raid with divine hymn as a shadow priest while beasts are alive, he just kicked me out of Discord call and raid grp. Next time if any raid leader even mentions divine and my priests name i will imidiatelly turn off my pc.

divine hymn is a raid cd, that you are sometimes required to use as a shadow priest, the same way that a retri may be called to use aura mastery.
Is it necessary to kill dbs? absolutely not.
is it a tool you should be ready to use as a shadow priest? absolutely yes

Yes, get used to using raid cooldowns if you want in good raids. You won't make it to Bane/LoD if you turn off your PC once you're asked to use Divine Hymn as a Shadow Priest.
Sure, there might be a PUG that can make that happen (1/12000 chance).
If you don't want to heal as Shadow Priest, don't use Vampiric Embrace either.

I always hated people in wow who obsess over the smallest things that don't really matter in the end but they act like it's the end of the world if you don't do it as they say it even though sometimes they're actually wrong. The leader acted like they wiped on the boss because of the shadow priest when what he did was a minor mistake if you can even consider it a mistake. I would have issued a warning to the shadow priest with possible loot ban on the next mistake if he considered his minor mistake such a crime.
If you still want to raid with elitist jerks just do what they ask I guess or join a guild who might be more permissive to minor mistakes.

I partially agree with you that raid cooldowns should be used but using divine hymn as shadow priest should be used only when aoe healing is low. In this raid aoe healing was not a problem(we had 6.2k rdudu and hpala) and we did DBS HC first try. For the second statement Vampiric Embrace is PASSIVE healing that scales with single target DAMAGE shadow priest deals.My question was should Shadow Priest use divine hymn which is direct aoe healing abillity.

Regardless of the specific incident, I find the title, "Shadow Priest is Healer spec ?", concerning. One of the strengths of your spec is that you can heal if necessary; you are expected to understand that, and a good leader will want to make use of that strength.

My title is as it is because some raid leaders behave like shadow priest is a healer spec. If raid leader wants shadow priest to use a raid cooldown healing abillity for a SPECIFIC situation where healing is LOW that is fine, however main strengths of a Shadow priest is Vampiric Embrace where 3% single target Shadow spell DAMAGE passively heals group. That is why you mainly take shadow priests beside other useful priest abillities such as (fear-ward,hymn of hope,shackle undead,dispell...). If you as a Raid Leader expect Shadow Priest(dps) to Directly cast healing spells where everyone is topped with hp and healing is not low, I think the problem lies in your poor judgement of a situation.Raid Leading is not easy but you are expected as a leader to know that you call in most situations Discipline Priest to shield and heal and Shadow priest to dps. No wonder there is always a spot for Shadow priest when ppl on this toxic server expect you to dispel,heal and dps as one class. :D

It's toxic someone asks you to push a button? It's expected from hybrid classes, which priest is, to use other parts of their kit from time to time.
Or do you consider it toxic for palas to use Aura Mastery/Dsac? Druids to use Innervate/Battleress/Tranquility?
Maybe back down your ego a bit. He didn't ask you to do anything special.

You're dodging the question.
He lootbanned you because you failed to push a button. Justified? No.
Does it make your refusal to push said button when asked to because your ego says no due to some arbirary garbage reason justified? Also no.
But considering how you act when asked to do something totally normal for a priest I doubt you're a huge loss when kicked.

I learned from my mistakes and progressed as a player and next time i will judge raid leaders (that are toxic like you) better.

As a shadow priest myself 12/12 hc on lordaeron you should use divine hymn when asked and hymn of hope together with mana tide totem "mana combo". Divine hymn is there with a reason to be used and mostly when healera are in need of help with marks on deathbringer. It' kind same as feral druid to use tranqulity on blood queen fly phase to help the raid to take less damage. So the point is raid cooldowns are to be used if you want to progress to high end raider.
