It's kind of like beast master hunter, except BM hunter is probably better. At least from a rogue vs rogue stand point all I have to do is vanish killing spree and I win every time.
Same strategy against BM hunter, you vanish beast wrath and then wait until its over and then engage and they can't do anything worthwhile to you.
I never talked about RvR :P
Overall on my experience (not on Molten though, but somewhere where combat works perfectly. Can't say the name because moderators stalking me :( ) on another server has showed me that combat is, afterall very powerful spec. 1v1 mostly though.
On arenas it's garbage compared to the usefulness of other specs, same goes for BG's pretty much.
I decided to create a Rogue recently. But I was lost. I was deciding between Assassination or Subtlety. Thats when I realized Combat Rogues are a possibility. This guide really helped me a lot. Now my Combat Rogue is in the process of gearing, and I love its playing style already.
1. I just have several questions to ask though, should I be using 1.6/1.4 off handers at all times and only switching to 2.6/2.6 for Killing Spree? Or should 2.6/2.6 be wield the entire time?
2. This is my first time playing a Rogue, should I mainly be using the following poisons? Wound Poison VII (50% Healing Reduction) and Crippling Poison (70% Slow). And if so, which on should be on the offhand? Or it doesn't really matter?
3. What kind of Glyphs should I be using? Definitely Glyph of Killing Spree, but what else? Vigor, Sprint?
4. Must Slice and Dice be kept up at all times?
5. How much hit rating should I be aiming for? 120~140 range?
1. for pvp stick with slow weapons because you won't be on your target at all times honestly. lots of people run from you.
2. wound i always use just cuz i think its sexy. without the improved talents in as tree, its stronger than instant and deadly. crippling helps a lot because you don't want people to be able to get away from you.(no shadowstepping blink)
3. i like KS for shorter cd in bgs and in arenas. SS because YOU NEED THAT EXTRA Combo point. the last is a choice, for bg i like vigor with my spec for more opening burst, for arena its a choice that you need to find yourself.
4. I try to keep it up, it really does beef up your damage by quite a bit. I like to open with cheap shot, then SnD, then AR SS and kidney shot. most ppl expect kidney shot right after cheap shot and trink it early, try to catch them off guard.
5. i can't answer that perfectly, i just go with the +hit pvp items.
Since I helped, I need help deciding which finishers to use. Eviscerate just doesn't seem to have the OOMF i want. Thinking rupture or expose...a bit of a tough call.
To your reply w/ Hit rating, does that mean I shouldn't be going for the +60 ArP Wrathful Necklace but instead the +60 Hit rating one? I am still in the process of gearing up my Combat Rogue, and I have already got the +60 Hit rating cloak (blue one), which looks like ****.
Usually, dependent on the situation, I like to open w/ CS, after which it gives me 2 CP which I end w/ EA (Expose Armor). This is usually done on a plate only, then I will just KS instantly if he's the only one there. After the KS, I will Gouge, Sprint if I have to, restealth, then open w/ CS, and then chain stun w/ KS. After the KS, I will put a 1CP EA on him. After fighting for a bit, if it lasts longer, I will Rupture. Usually he's down by then ;)
Hope this helps. I usually never Eviscerate. My SS crit is close to a 5CP Eviscerate for some reason. So yeah.
after a day of bgs and 3v3...
SnD>EA>KS> all else... as combat.
for those that don't know... don't waste your time or cb points on 5cb ks. 9/10 it will get trinked if it hasn't been blown. but a 3cb ks, will never get trinked.... or if it does, total waste :D. I mean unless you know FOR SURE it can not get removed.... then why not. but short stuns ruin ppls days >:D
I don't know about SnD... I really prefer using Rupture or Eviscerate. I mean Eviscerate does straight up damage and Rupture still damage while you are still kiting them. Even if you keep SnD up, it shouldn't be more than 1 or 2 CB. Because really fights w/ Combat Rogues don't usually last long, at least for me.
True about your KS, if not fighting against the Paladin (he will just freedom the KS no matter the time) use 1-3 CB Kidney Shot only, thats unless he has already trinketed. Then he's ****ed.

You already got your answers from the post above, but anyway, here's my 5 cents:
1) slow weps on both hands always, you can get a fast OH for Shiv spams maybe... Have in mind you can Shiv through Evasion, since it's a spell, not an attack ;) but you can avoid evasion w/ vanish+cheap anyway, since openers cannot be dodged, parried or blocked, just missed. or just go behind him and KShot - Sub rogues do this far easier w/ shadstep tho
2) yes, those 2 poisons. no, it doesn't really matter. if u don't have a fast oh in ur bags to spam shiv tru evasions in RvR fights, you can keep wound on OH so your shiv actually does damage
3) GoSS as mentioned already, the 3rd one is a personal choice as mentioned already as well.
4) not a big dmg increase since your main damage in pvp is NOT melee unlike in pve, but special abilities, specifically Killing Spree, because of the short period the fights last.
5) 5% is the cap, get 6% just in case
Also, a macro that I A_L_W_A_Y_S have as a combat rogue and which I very often use after Gouge:
/stopattack
/cast Expose Armor
this macro allows you to use expose armor while the target is sapped, blinded or gouged WITHOUT breaking the effects listed... it is EXTREMELY useful if used properly, trust me. Think of it like you will land EA and then use KSpree without the target being able to do anything at all (except IB, bubble, zerker rage or trink ofc)

Wait... wait what?
You say a rogue stands a chance against a Bm hunter? Btch please, get flareoutplayed.
As for combat, not having prep is what makes them weak, everyone knows that a rogue without vanish is basicaly a mob :>
thanks...but im having dificulties reaching that amount of ArP whith pvp gear :/ ... and im using fractured cardinal ruby in every socket can you help???

BM hunters are not that hard as a sub rogue. Like I said, all you have to do is vanish bestial wrath the moment he uses it and then wait off to the side.
Combat rogue doesnt have good mobility like sub rogue which you will need in most cases. But i have played combat rogue before and its not that unplayable but when you your KS on cd all you can do is spam SS. And combat rogue beating Frostmage is impossible. However sub rogues at least have a chance
What weapons do you prefer ? :) furious ones wf ones and so on :) say what u use for pvp :) Generally not what your fast ones are ....also if fast ones are more effective say so :) couse i will start trying combat rogue now :) want to see never played it before ^_^
