Your dungeon group yelled at you so you deleted your characters and even quit retail which was totally unrelated?
You sound emotionally unstable.

I'm not going to lie. It bothers me a great deal. Probably more than it should. As a staff member, I don't have the option of just ignoring a person. If they break the rules for something like staff disrespect, then of course I reserve every right to punish them in accordance with the rules. Some people would think that helps, but it really doesn't. If anything, it makes it worse. While a large portion of my job description is just that, enforcing the rules, that doesn't mean that has anything to do with my desire to keep doing what I do. That isn't even to mention those people who don't quite break the rules, so they get to stick around and spread their negativity. So how do I deal with the abuse? Well, it's fairly simple. I don't. I "deal with it". I just keep on going. Sure, it's made me sour in some ways that I really wish it hadn't, and it's changed me; I'm a very different person than I was 5 years ago because of it.
You just gotta remember that when people act like that, it usually has nothing to do with you. They would treat you the same way no matter who you are or what you do because they are angry with their own lives. I've played WoW for 11 years and used to be a GM on another server...I've heard every insult you could ever imagine and some you couldn't. I used to be able to just .kill the person over and over until they got angry enough to log off, sadly I can't do that on here. But I don't let it bother me, they are just strangers on the internet after all, and they know nothing about you.
You shouldn't be playing any online games that requires interaction, EVERY single game online that has interaction in it is always have these type of people.
You know what? That actually sounds like a good idea. As soon as I get paid this Friday, I'm restoring my character and I'm gonna start drinking.
In a variety of ways. Generally I give people a bit of leeway depending on the severity of the over reaction. Everyone has bad days and even the most composed of individuals react in human ways. We aren't robots or Vulcans here. At some point when folk are being repeatedly disrespectful you have to say something. Whatever the situation, I -try- to be constructive in one way or another , subtle and sometimes not so subtle.
In anycase, who gives a flying fish what some stranger online with personal issues knee jerk tongue lashing reaction is?
Allowing other people to ruin your fun while playing this game shouldn't be a possibility. I am aware that people tend to create a burden within them and I'm also aware that we can make a lot of haters in this game. But you have to live with it.
The best advice that I'm able to offer you is this: Gather a really strict and close group of friends and have fun while playing this game. Progress (if you desire it) doesn't need to be chased in a rush - Enjoy your time while playing this and don't allow people to destroy your fun with such rude comments. Have been doing this for a while and I have more fun now than in all the years that I've played in Warmane.
This is a game and games are meant to be fun.

Keep your head up :)
I have let myself out negative sometimes aswell, but with the thought of improvement in the back of my head. There usually are 3 kind of people:
1: people who are angry about something else and vent it on you, they should not. Ask them to think again about what they said.
2: people who say things, mean it in a good way, but just choose bad words for it. (due to cultural or language difference, or any other issue on the road for them)
3: Trolls, fully ignore those.
(#4 sometimes people are mad at you, but if you can justify for yourself that you did nothing wrong, or had not the intention to do, it should be fine).
I recommend all of u to start multiboxing. U become thick skinned in a matter of days and after a while ull find all the haters even amusing.
It's the internet, dude, you will find things like this in every corner.
Even my friends yells at me when I make a mistake while Raiding or doing Dungeons, I know everyone makes mistakes and once a while you will find someone yelling at you but you don't need to hug it and carry with you.
Just ignore them and ruin their day by /lol-ing on them while they try to rage at you but they can't cuz ignore is OP.
I smile, laugh a little, and return fire. Usually it results in the other person ignoring me; Because I'm the master.
Just learn how to stand up for yourself, that's all.
I've noticed people love victimizing themselves too sometimes, especially in gaming communities.
Saying things like they've changed because of how mistreated they were in the game and all that overly melo-dramatic puppy-talk. Just makes me want to slap some sense into a brother, you know?
It's okay, kid. Your ancestors were raised on dinosaur meat, probably while freezing their balls off on cold mornings too. Grow some back hair, we know you're a sensitive little flower, but i mean, hey, you've come this far, right? you're the result of millions of years of evolution, now act like it, buttercup. Surprise yourself.
P.S Mercy's a real France-in-the-70's kind of lady, isn't she? let's hope she's free this evening, gotta put my moves on. x)
Ive trolled a guy last night by skinning a few of his mobs in sholazar basin, he whispered:
HE:I hope u get cancer, u and all ur family
Me:wtf is wrong with u man, i was joking
He: i wasn't
Just a thing that reminds me that ppl are ****ing savage
He probably **** in the woods
