1. It's a matter of perspective. I'd say most players would leave lowbies alone because it's unfair and they have empathy. But there are some players who like to cause trouble. Your reactions in posts like this are exactly the kind of thing that feeds them. It's fun to make players mad.

This was always allowed in the game because it leads to people communicating and creates competition between players. I gotta say one of my favorite parts of this game is when I get ganked especially in outland/northrend and I bring my geared toon in to get revenge. That is some delicious revenge. And man do I corpse camp those players hard. Then you make a toon on the opposite faction to add them and that way you can hunt them and taunt them for days.

  2. There is one quite fun thing to do, it's to gank those who enjoy themselves in this way.
Repay them in the same way so that they know that what you do will sooner or later come back to you.

  3. Logs in after a 10h shift, want to spend some quality time with SO, gets ganked in two-three different zones. Solution: "Set alarm for 3 AM in the morning" or "play another time". How could I not think of this when I have to do something else in that day :D Anyway, banning is not the good way to solve it, but the lack of a permanent PvE server is the main issue, so that both kind of players find their fun. Gankers should enjoy their style of play with other gankers, and PvE players should stick in another server.

  4. Honestly, I'm on Onyxia, and I've enjoyed some ganks. I saw a max troll rogue countering a max human rogue the other day in Hillsbrad Foothills, and later that day another human rogue near my level tried to fight my hunter and I got my first pvp kill, though it was from my cat doing 99% of the work. For the most part though, every other max level player I've run into from the Alliance just waves as they run by to get some herb or ore, or to attack a max level horde player that's nearby, and they just leave me alone. I don't mind the world pvp sometimes, cause I plan to get into pvp soon so I can learn it and actually get some gear or mounts from it

  5. I understand the nature of playing on a PvP server — contested zones are dangerous, and world PvP is part of the experience. That’s fine.
But the problem isn’t normal world PvP. The issue is arriving in Northrend as a fresh level 70 (or even lower when questing elsewhere) and immediately getting camped at the starting locations — inside your own faction’s base.

Right now, fully geared level 80s (some with Shadowmourne and BIS gear) are sitting at the starting docks or city entrances, killing not just players but also the NPCs. This makes it impossible to even play the game normally.
There’s no “skill issue” here — you simply get one-shot the moment you step off the boat, and if you rez they kill you again. Sometimes it’s entire groups doing it, which leaves you no way to quest, level, or progress.

I’ve opened tickets in frustration, but the standard GM response is:
"iT iS a PvP-sErVeR, sO iT iS nOt BaNnAble."

Of course I understand that. But sitting in starter zones to grief lower-level players into quitting the game entirely doesn’t feel like meaningful PvP — it’s just harassment.

So my question is: what are players supposed to do in this situation?

As a level 40 questing elsewhere, what can I do if my path is blocked?

As a newly arrived level 70 in Howling Fjord, how am I meant to level when I’m instantly camped by five fully geared players?

At this point it feels like the only answer is: don’t bother leveling here unless you’re willing to spend more time, gold, or even money just to reach Northrend and not get griefed.

We have all been through that situation and in any case those players who wait there to kill as soon as another player arrives are few..........except for rare "specimens" who stay there for more than an hour.

When you get to level 80 you do the same thing.

  7. I usually don’t mind PvP – in fact, I enjoy it when it’s between players of the same level or at least somewhere close. That’s part of the fun. But what’s starting to wear me down is the complete lack of any action against people who spend their time one-shotting lowbies, spawn camping, or wiping out leveling bases. It’s not PvP at that point, it’s just making the game unplayable for others.

I’ve seen the usual advice: “Just log your main and go gank them back.” Sure, fair enough... except not everyone has a geared main. Some of us just want to level through zones and enjoy the game’s progression without being forced into RDF-only leveling because every quest hub has been turned into a graveyard.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not asking for PvP to be removed – I signed up knowing what kind of server this is. But it’s hard not to get at least slightly infuriated when the only “PvP” certain players engage in is griefing people who don’t even stand a chance.

  8. First off...

Just laugh at these *****s that are pvping on WoW... I wouldn't even call it pvping. I'd call it ganking with an outfitted char or above level. 90% of them wouldn't engage in world pvp if they were equally based as you without you spending 100 hours farming for BiS for that level on a person vrs person aspect.

Basically WoW pvp boils down to someone that got picked on in school or life or had the same ganking crap done to them. Now they are gonna spend a year building a character just to gank you... Seems kind of pathetic

As far as BG's go i can't say nothing on that because I refuse to pvp on a game to where everyone is CAN BE exactly the same as their opponent with the only upper hand being consumables & macros.

Get over it and just laugh at em.. The ones that stand over your dead body til you rez are even more of a joke. Take a look on youtube at bottom grade players on mmos... They mostly look like they are zombies or cracked out. No life and never will have one.

    Just laugh at em

  9. If these people really want to pvp maybe they should pick a pvp game. There is alot of games and not just FPS games that offer quality pvp.

If anyone chooses to challenge me on this.... Then tell me:

    1) Where is the strategy in open world pvp? (No, 2v2 premade arenas dont count) - (Going into lower level zones or even sitting on a building in a lvl 80 zone waiting for someone to start mining/gathering a node doesn't count either. If you call that pvp then @#$(**(@#$(*@#($(* I cant even say it).

    2) Why is there not (75% of the group) player premade battleground matches.

    3) What do you gain from killing another player in open world? Nothing. Now if you were able to loot a player on this game of all the stuff in his inventory minus soulbound/quest then I would pvp myself. But you can't.

Maybe this is my old wrinkly arse talkin but i've been apart of alot of pvp/pvm games and WoW is the worst of them all besides Guild Wars 1&2. I wish anyone luck answering these questions without answering them with a question or just a derogatory remark.

  10. Hmm WARcraft is not a pvp game? Horde against Alliance, sworn enemies fighting since ever.. pvp is actually one of the main points of the game.. if you hate pvp so much, you should play the Guildwars games you mentioned above or wow server where 99% of players are in the same faction. No competition nor danger there.

  11. tbh i usually gank in pve gear to bait their mains and then swap to full wrathful to repeatedly stomp their mains, you gotta crush their spirit to fight back. and if they bring friends you swap to your multibox setup and unleash hell to break them too, it's a multilevel-job...simply stomping a few lowbies isn't enough, camp them till they break atleast.

  12. "The name 'Warcraft' was proposed by Blizzard developer Sam Didier. It was chosen because 'it sounded super cool', according to Blizzard co-founder Allen Adham, without any particular meaning attached to it."

WoW was primarily designed as a PvE game. This is easily proven with how little PvP content there actually is. There are several raid tiers full of different challenges and several instances to go with them. Zones are filled with quests and other PvE aspects.

What PvP has? Well, you can PvP, but it's largely optional. You have few BG's and arenas to play in, and that's about it. There are only handful PvP mechanics, such as zone buffs and WG control in WotLK, in the long list of zones.

I don't have a dog in this fight but bro the entire foundation of this game is conflict between Alliance and Horde (WARcraft). The game was designed to be a faction-based PVP game from the very beginning. The entire purpose of getting gear was to enhance your abilities in faction based open-world PVP during the vanilla era.

They slowly started introducing battlegrounds which instanced out PVP, but as someone who played this game since launch you are absolutely clueless. WoW is based on the Warcraft series of RTS games, pulling that quote out of your *** and applying it to a game that came out 10 years later is some goofy **** lmao

No, it wasn't. The background of the story is about warring factions, but the game itself has always been a PvE game, with a side of PvP. You don't have to go further than the fact PvE servers were originally called "Normal" servers. Gearing has always been about progressing in the story and PvE content. If what you said was remotely true, there would be a widely larger amount of official PvP content, not simply letting people kill each other for no reason. Lay off the copium and accept that PvP is side-content, and one that the majority of players don't take part in, it's healthier.
