I have played on molten-wow a few years ago. I had no problem with people donating and I have never had. Of couse I got beaten by someone - but I was still able to get the gear they had - and beat many of them.
Lets say you are new to retail wow. People will be geared like **** there too - and you have nothing. The problem is the same then. It is just some people have played for it - and some people have supported a server for it.
And how great won't it be if the prices are high as they are? Maybe warmane can buy even more server, get a bigger staff, and more stable server out of the extra income "that they don't really need"?
Warmane got also more content to cover then nostalrius - even tho they also do a great job. But I guess it is easier to cover a old content then old + newer content.
Dude, what? You're missing the point entirely, you can get the same gear as the guy beating you on retail, here you can donate and get gear that isn't obtainable in-game, how are you not realizing this?
They also ADVERTISED the server as that not being an option in the store, but now they've backtracked and essentially honey potted me and many others who decided to get to 80 so now we are stuck on a P2W server.

I'm okay with donations too, but not like this.
You can't say you're okay with donations then cry when they enable a shop with donation items lol.
Are you people really that closed sighted and thought that Lordaeron, with more than 10k people, would forever be there? What the hell? Even if they claimed, NO SHOP NO COIN NO X, use ur damn brains, how the fudge would they pay for that massive undertaking?!
Seriously...no its not ok to put "shadowmourne" or 245 gear atm, I would even be mad at 200 gear, but at 200 gear that would still be morally OK, and they're gimping themselves to keep the realm as hard as possible with the increased cost.
But people: The server has to be paid for, staff, everything... its not out of thin air, this kind of project isn't possible to be maintained by people as a "hobby"...

*Than, not then.
And not to imply anything, but you'll also never hear the Nostalrius staff refer to their "salaries", as I believe for many of them it isn't a full time job, which is something you have to consider.
Hey man, we get it, you support P2W, that is cool.
The server has always been pay-to-win, there is no denying that. Although now with the gear in shop it is considerably more so. Just be glad they aren't selling gold and legendaries like on Deathwing and Ragnaros (yet).
Saying things like "yet" and stuff like that is really disrespectful to us. We are still respecting ALL the guidelines we wrote on DAY ONE of our PTR information thread about Lordaeron.
There might be minor changes, as to enable race change or faction change on COMMUNITY'S REQUEST but other than that we stay true to our word. Please do not create comparisons where they shouldn't be. Warmane is a high-expense, 50+ employees project that utilizes expensive hardware, dedicated backups, anti-dos protection and a pile things of other sort. In many ways, it is unique and will remain to unique.
Saying things like "yet" "they will do it lol" really makes us feel sad about the effort that went into all the transparency, updates, live streams and numerous, countless times we elaborated, explained to fine detail about how things will be running only to have someone come in and say that they were surprised and taken back and can't wait until we do the next thing to disappoint them.
Im also frustrated that some bis items were released but fuk that **** man, its still 10 times better than what molten used to be, and it will remain better till u cannot buy highest tier obtainable.
Enable cosmetic changes for coins, faction transfer, race change etc just not name change, hell, even give a chance to banned plebs to get unbanned like once for a lifetime for coins ofc :D
You also said you were going to employ economy balancing and draining gold mechanics and yet there are BoE's like Darkmoon cards on store. Maybe you should take out all BoE's from the coin store.
To anyone yammering about Warmane's costs and the revenue that Lordaeron generates, I'd encourage you to take a look at the actual numbers expressed in this thread here: http://forum.warmane.com/showthread....ospective-2016
Since Lord is not generating adequate donations, I would be perfectly okay with all of the following additions to coin shop:
- Web based transmogrification
- Name change (keep past history of names on Armory)
- Faction/race change (originally listed as unconfirmed on realm features)
- Queue skipping*
- Heirlooms after first 80* (some people will hate this, but I think it's pretty fair considering you would still have to level 1-80 normally at least once)
- Reduced item cost* (I think there was some talk of this already, possibly bring it down from 700% or whatever it is now to 300-500% in order to encourage more people to buy)
* These were originally specifically ruled out in realm information thread, but I wouldn't care if they had to change it up now. It's not like they can predict the future for how well these things will go.
I would like to see the gear rules stay as strict as possible, but this is probably the #1 source of income in the store.
I'd say as long as you aren't ever able to buy gear that's BETTER than what's available in currently released content, I'll be happy. It wouldn't really bother me if they took away the min item level requirement or even made all current tier gear available after realm firsts.
I used to be on board with the whole "absolutely no P2W" bandwagon, thinking that any lifted gear restrictions would be a horrible thing. Now I've come to realize that it's much better for me as a player if the server makes more money instead of less.
People are going to play the game however they want to and there's no stopping that. Sure there will be those who pay for the full PvP set right off the bat and will likely dominate me at first in BGs. This is already possible with the Hateful gear sets. That doesn't mean I can't achieve that same level of gear within a reasonable amount of time by working for it normally.
To me, someone who buys all their gear, especially PvE gear, is just missing out on actually playing and enjoying the game.
In the end, it comes down to a simple, logical choice. What impacts me more directly as a player? Getting owned a few times by some noob who bought all his gear? Or Warmane dropping staff and more bugged/delayed content on Lordaeron?

At this point the server is full on P2W, not really "hardcore" anymore.
They might as well enable RDF at this point, like there is zero reason for it not to be on now that you can just buy gear, too hardcore4me.

Many people are simply delighted by the fact that there aren't "shadowmournes everywhere buzzlightyear.jpg".

Feel free to offer any constructive input that you have on the matter. What sorts of things would you suggest to supplement the server and staff costs? Because the current model isn't cutting it.
You can't say we didn't try. You are overreacting to the point of disrespect. As such, your posting privileges will be removed so that you can have time to calm yourself.
Personally I'd totally support an instant 80 option :D
I hate leveling but really want a well developed raiding experience of Wotlk without everyone running around with BIS gear of the current content.
So sad that there were no donations, I really hoped that this server would be a cashcow for you guys after I saw that it pulled 10k ppl all the time. :/

There go the suggestions. Brained ones if you ask.
