1. Sorry, what? Where do you see top teams fighting each other? The most fights i ever saw was who is gonna farm lowbies the most while managing to dodge the teams which they can loose to.

We all know how it worked - farming fresh teams, asking guildies or randoms in global to queue 5s for 10 games, or straight up win trading. For me thats all the same category, and there is nothing competetive about that.
Maybe you shouldn't draw conclusions from yourself about others. Most players have not done any win trading.

  2. Not competitive as in the teams are not running ideal comps or any sort of complex coordination or communication. And 5 v 5 was just a point farm so it wasn't battling it out for the top spot to get any kind of reward.
Ppl were running cleaves on top rating. It were challenging fights. Maybe I'll search for some old clips to refresh your memory.

2s on the other hand is a unbalanced mess because only a handful combs is even viable in the competitive play. You can't even roll a holy pala in 2s because any half brained rdruide does 10 times better with no effort in these pillar humping mana fights.
5s are much more bursty matches which makes specs such as ele shami, bm hunter, destro lock and holy pala viable which otherwise couldn't be played whatsoever.

I agree with Santori here but would like to add that solo queue is also as far away as possible from being a title/mount worthy competitive bracket as 5v5 is.
If 3vs3 is already too much effort to set up and schedule for most players causing them to prefer solo queue as a game mode, 5vs5 is definitely a no-go either.
During TBC/Wotlk Classic Blizzard basically forced everyone into 5vs5 since it awarded the most arena points and it was hell, so tedious to schedule, games feeling like a BG because using the same arena maps for 4, 6 and 10 players just does not make sense as Blizzard probably realized some years later since the game mode is abandoned in modern Wow games.
The moment Blizzard removed rewards from 5vs5 in Cataclysm classic people immediately stopped playing it because hardly anyone played it for fun, it was simply a chore that had to be done. Check ironforge pro EU 5vs5 ladder for reference.

Also looking at the ladder screenshots most teams have very few losses so they most likely did not really queue up vs each other a lot, or other high rated teams in general.
But yes you are correct - offmeta specs can perform better however it is a skill issue regardless. You can play holy paladin in 2s and be successful, it is very hard but doable, also there is at least 1 viable 3vs3 comp for it, same for Ele sham and there was a time with 1 destruction lock/mage time being successful as well as 1 destruction lock/resto druid but you have to be very good individually to make it work.

Yeaaaaah you would be surprised how many people wintraded / hard dodged / hard sniped on TBC private servers history. No matter the bracket, on "top" rating.

Ofc there a black sheeps doing that but it's not the majority of the playersbase as ppl here make it sound.
When Outland was crowded the 5s bracket was so active that ppl couldn't even do win trading because there were always opponents in queue.

  6. So my argument would be to put in Solo Queue in place of 5 v 5 as the points earning arena, but actually make it 5 v 5 instead of 3 v 3.
I agree on that part. Many specs are not really viable in 3s so it makes sense to make soloq a 5v5 bracket because almost any spec works in that bracket.
The queue system could place two healers and 3 DPS in a team. No class stacking and triple melee or triple Rdps allowed. I think with such filters the queue times wouldn't be significant longer than currently in 3s soloq on wotlk.
However, 5s soloq shouldn't reward more arena points than 2s so ppl still have a incentive to play the other brackets.

Thats actually an idea which id sign up for immediatelly. 5s SQ would fit TBC and its limited 2s comps and generally lower 3s activity, so thumbs up from me.

  8. And what about 1vs1 Solo Que? its band idea?
