It's because Warmane is now forcing people to use some trash OLD client and force players that have no idea how to do it, to literally do it on their own if they wanna use HD stuff. HD client comes with multiple files, including those that are needed for HD client and now you are guys forcing people to study something they have no basic knowledge of, in order to keep using hd textures, new graphics of spells etc. All is available in patchmenu.exe. You have mentioned multiple times that people should use CLEAN version. Nobody should expect regular players to know what to do and how to do it properly if they wanna keep the experience they have been having for years with hd client.

If players know how to install an HD client then they know how to install the clean client. If players have installed patches to their wow client then they know how to remove them (or, at least, how to get a clean client).

As far as I'm aware the popular HD client that exists uses a modified binary because it comes with a ton of addons that require those modifications. So it could be possible to create an HD client that looks as good as always but without the modifications to the binary. In other words no one is being forced to use the "ugly" client.

They will get a clean client and play normally.

If they wanted to ban you they would have banned you already. Don't worry about it.

I understand the concern about keeping the client secure and preventing cheats, but right now it feels like players who only want to improve their visual experience are being put in the same category as cheaters.

In my case (and several others here), we were using HD clients or improved textures that do not affect gameplay or balance at all. With this new detection, we’re suddenly being treated as if we were trying to exploit the game.

If the goal is to protect the server, that’s perfectly fine, and I support it. But it would be fair if Warmane at least:

clearly explained which graphical modifications are forbidden and which ones are safe;

offered some kind of official alternative (even minimal) for players who want to enjoy a better-looking client without risking being flagged as cheaters.

Nobody is asking for hacks to be allowed. All we want is transparency and not to be automatically labeled as cheaters just for using HD textures.

At the end of the day, we all want the same thing: to keep enjoying Warmane.

It's stupid to use the original client in 2025. Since I came back to Warmane, I only use the HD client and I don't intend to stop. As mentioned before, just delete the file called “awesomewotlklib.dll” and you shouldn't have any problems.

There should be a way to allow the Nameplate QoL that AwesomeWotlk had. This seem like a rushed decision and is affecting more regular players that are great contributors to the server than the actual cheaters.

I'm confused. Are people being intentionally ignorant just to complain about this topic? Yes sure it sucks that you lose some QoL things but it's been said multiple times that HD Textures are allowed. It's also been said multiple times how to fix the HD Client by deleting a single file. So can we please stop complaining about the visuals?

Amazing... I used this client for different servers (simply replacing realmlist), because this way game works the way it should work in 2025. And now keep playing here means "Welcome to 2010". What for? Will it clear the game from cheaters? I doubt. Will it kill comfortable play for players, who do not get any odds to other players? Of course. That's really really sad and doesn't look like a game, which you come for relax
