"WoW Down to 7.1 Million Subscribers
Blizzard had their Q1 2015 earnings call today, announcing that WoW is down to 7.1 million subscribers at the end of Q1 2015. This is down 2.9 million from the Q4 2014 call that listed WoW at 10 million subscribers. This appears to be the largest drop in subscriber count in the history of the game."
Not going to argue with that, least the WotLK part. But still, it can't be denied that it has more population than any other MMO combined, including private WoW servers. :p
Yes, it is the best. I agree with you there. My point is, it could be better ;)
Garrisons, integrated Twitter buttons and selfie cams ain't gonna cut it.
Personally, I miss rewarding 5-man content, JP and VP. But maybe it's just me. WotLK and Cata have far better unlocked (raids aside) PvE content than DailyPanda and GarrisonVille. People don't want to pay a subscription for 5hrs of game time a week.

Thats right and I wish I didnt take ss of people saying that wod is already the best xpac
It's going down and will be. I have no idea what could save wod but for sure no twitter.
And it doesnt matter that there is still more subs than any mmo have while there are other mmo's at the moment more entertaining.
And maybe it is good. Soo many months passed and there is no content at all.

If you had never played WoW before ever in your life and started playing it right now - what MMO could possibly come close to the magnitude of gameplay and countless hours of versatile entertainment that you would find in World of Warcraft? Sure, there's no doubt that WoW is on a decline at the moment regarding satisfied customers, but no MMO is even close to being as diverse and entertaining as WoW. The only people who are bored of the game are the ones who have been playing it for years. YEARS. Hell, those millions that quit after saying "enough is enough" after WoD was released have probably played for 10 years since Vanilla, and you know they'll all be back to buy another copy of the next expansion that'll be released - even Sodapoppin!
Unless Blizzard too decides that "enough is enough" and moves on with something else, even so they've still practically been ruling the #1 computer game-spot for 10 years, even with the technological advancements in video games they're still staying strong with their South Park-esque graphics but amazing content (just like South Park.)
Every game declines after it's prime (BC-WoTLK era), difference is though some will just pack it up and call it a day while others while carry on trying to redeem itself. Wow is the latter, and some point in the future they will make an expansion that people can compare to BC/Wrath positively, it just comes down to a matter of when and how but also, the faith of its customers.
So before a 2 months i said how many ppl left retail but 2-3 guys from the forum blame me where are they now? I expect at end of WoD there will be around 6m subs. Also even this isnt a real numbers, a lot of ppl dont rly play when sub because they buy more than a month and get bored after 2-3 weeks and amount of botters and chinese gold sellers is rly huge. Without addon /trade chat is a cancer.
I feel today MMO's are going to the wrong direction; focusing on pure graphical detail and other extra to be up par with today technology. Back in Woltk and BC, Blizzard brang something new to the table - you did not see a huge open world with so much content and a amazing story line back the which WoW delivered.
WoD could have alot of potential with garrions and the overall content, but I suppose you can only develop content at a human speed level.
this expansion is the beginning of the retail wow's fall, ofc it takes time to lose 10m players, but it will come sooner or later
People said Bc, Wrath, Cata and MoP where the beginning of Retail's downfall, every release, every day all you saw on forums was 'This new (insert new feature here) sucks, this is going to lose players. Retail will die in the next xpac' yes this was even around during BC's release...
Just a bit theory crafting here, could the drop in subscribers be that WoW Token basically replaces the need to subscribe for hard-core players (you don't need to subscribe every month as you just pay in-game)?
But still its the same all the time, its true this is the biggest loss of subscribers they had overall ever, but when the new exp comes y'all know the number is gonna sky rocket back to at least 10m. Then again over time its gonna drop back to 8-7m again, but that's how it rolls. You can never please everyone.
