1. steady shot

why does steady shot do less damage than auto shots?

example: steady shot crits for 7k but auto shot crits for 8k

and this is over 100 shots done

  2. Despite what the tooltip suggests about Steady Shot, it actually has a far worse AP scaling than your Auto-Shots. If you pay attention to their damage, your highest Auto-Shot is usually far ahead of your highest Steady Shot in damage, because AP procs exacerbate that difference even further. Conversely, at low levels you also notice Steady Shot pulling out well ahead of your Auto-Shots in damage, because you have very little attack power. At level 80, you can achieve a similiar effect by taking off all your gear except your bow and testing this out at the dummies.

  3. Steady Shot generates focus and procs Improved Steady Shot, Master Marksman and Piercing Shots

It definitely is a better choice than just standing there auto-shooting. but I'm guessing that isn't the point

  4. Speaking about Hunters, we get our main damage based from our weapon damage which is bow and that contributes a lot to our DPS.

Steady shots is not 100% physical damage output. Our Auto - Shot gets its damage from our AP + Weapon damage ( bow ) and is 100% physical + we are stacking Armor Pen, so it does more damage.

Auto-shots automatically fire off in between steady shots and contribute to your dps too, so it is definitely better than standing there and auto-shooting, and yes it does generate pet focus too.

  6. Steady shot was bettter (its still better but with a way less) than autoshot only in early TBC, after 2.4 its rly close to autoshot.
