1. Factions

I understand that at the moment It is unconfirmed whether this will be implemented or not and so I hope that I might be able to convince you all.
    UNCONFIRMED FEATURES
Features that may or may not make it into the release.
    - No race change
    - No faction change
My guess for disabling it is you make people have more loyalty to a faction and it will also help avoid people jumping from one faction to another for just pvp balance. The downside to having no faction transfer though is that you will restrict the amount of guilds available to a player such as myself. I work 4 nights a week at the moment and worry that I might not be able to find a suitable raiding guild to fit my needs on my current faction.

If it where the case that the only raiding guild suitable for me was on the other side I would be rather unwilling to level a completely new version of my main character. I would probably quit the server at that point.

I understand that Lordaeron is suppose to be a hardcore server but adding such a unblizz-like feature would be a mistake. How about it having a long cool down (3-6months?) and costing 3x the cost of the other servers? perhaps even only allowing 1 faction transfer per account for the duration of the cool down. This kind of cool down would stop people transferring willy nilly.

Lets think about the pvp aspect of this logically for a moment, If all I did was PvP and I was unhappy with the balance of the factions I would just reroll because it wouldn't be as hard for me to gear up in pvp gear as it would be in PVE

What are everyone else's constructive thoughts? (incoming "LODEARRON IS HARDCORE NOOB, GO AWAY" replies :D )

  2. Two transfers per year can't hurt anyone imo.

  3. More like one time per account, and no cd. After you're transferred once, there is no way back. That would make more sense.

  4. Honestly I couldnt care less about FC's All I see is "MUH FACTION LOYALTY DURRRR" Race changes on the other hand, litteraly what is the reason THAT **** isnt allowed even if they charged coins for that ****, really.

  5. Would like to hear what the staff think about this issue, It is a no brainier in my mind.

  6. Its stupid.

Then you could play horde untill ICC release, get double trinkets and change to human.

Also name change should be allowed. Its mind blowing that people who picked offensive names get free rename.

  7. I would strongly recommend Warmane staff against the tentative "No faction change" and "No race change" policies.

A situation I've run into several times is after my guild disbanding, the only available guild left to raid with at a suitable time for me was on the other faction. Enabling Faction changes doubles the pool of potential guilds you have available for you, thus doubling the likelihood that you'll eventually find a community that suits you. Had I (and others in the same boat as me) not been able to Faction change, we wouldn't have been able to continue raiding on the server. It also prevents a scenario occurring where one faction gains an overwhelming advantage in PVE or PVP (traditionally on Warmane, this has mostly been the Alliance for the WotLK expansion), and all new players to the realm aware of the imbalance roll on the faction with the advantage, since the fact that they can never faction transfer characters gives them a good reason never to play on the weaker faction.

As for "No race change", I personally believe that's a bad idea too. Hardcore players (the type that might be especially attracted to Lordaeron) are the ones constantly altering their toons to better suit it to the content they're clearing. This includes changing talents, gemming builds, gear, and even their race if they're needed to. On retail back in hardcore guilds this was a very common thing you'd witness. The Tauren Death Knight main tank would race-change to Orc if his guild found another tank and wanted him as DPS instead. The Human mage would race-change to Draenei if his guild needed him to provide the 1% hit buff. Later on when they mage decided he wanted to be competitive in PVP instead, he'd race-change back to Human for the considerable racial advantage. Adding a restriction on race-changing forces people to make an extremely permanent choice that might later funnel them into very specific niches, and robs them of their ability to tweak their toon to be as good as possible at any particular role if they've invested the correct effort into it. I honestly don't see much of a reason for a restriction like this at all. In principle, it's sort of like if talent points were permanent and un-resettable - though obviously on a much milder scale - a restriction set in place for the sake of having a restriction in place, without it not furthering (and arguably even being a detriment to) the hardcore vision developers have for Lordaeron.

  8. I want to abuse racials on hardcore server.

Your example "It also prevents a scenario occurring where one faction gains an overwhelming advantage in PVE or PVP"

So basically alliance is winning 70% of BGs, every horde player faction change to alliance. Now alliance is winning 90% of BGs. Nice logic there m8

  9. Faction transfer is what killed old Lordaeron because in the end everyone switched to human.

  10. Faction transfer is what killed old Lordaeron because in the end everyone switched to human.
Not everyone but a majority of it.... I think it should be still disabled.... You rolled a character and that's your decision... If you wanna reroll you simply make a new character.

Probably the reason staff add the keyword "hardcore" when describing Lorda is to subtract "convenience" from the equation. We've all been there and it hasn't stopped us from logging and playing on the server despite an recent restart. ;)

Faction transfer wouldn't stop a PVP player from rerolling completely, they don't have that much to catch up on when they cap. PVE on the other hand is somewhat more problematic (Gear means a whole lot more etc).
Give myself as an example for the human thing, At the moment I am already alliance and human. Mainly because of the trinket situation, I would like the option to move if I wanted though.

I believe we have all made good points on both sides of this discussion. I'm not really sure if one is right or wrong but I would like to see some official response on this topic.

Would I be right in assuming that new Lordaeron is much larger than old Lordaeron was?

  13. Hardcore, like letting people buy gear right? ;)

  14. Just forbid re-roll human.
Human í only good for PvP, all of their PvE's potential is suck.

You mean... that the bonus rep sux?! or the trinket that can save you from dying in some fights [vile gas comes to mind]
Alliance racials are meant for PvP idd,but some works for PvE pretty darn well.
