Technical WOTLK Patch update fails WOW retail installed WOTLK in alternate folder

Hi all,

Help appeciated. I have WOW retail installed and WOTLK Warmane installed in alternate folder called "Wrath of the Lich King 3.3.5a".
Yesterday Oct 23rd changelog patch came out and now I cannot play WOTLK.

Clicking on WOW.exe launches program. I sign in. Updater automatically runs. The update program is "WoW-x.x.x.x-4.0.0.12911-Downloader"
when complete I get this message: " World of Warcraft could not be found. Please make sure the game is properly installed. "

What to do? what to do? I hoped this was a common issue but could find no guide. Anyone know of one? Any other solutions?
