whats the deal with shop suffix items?

can you specify what type of suffix you want from the shop? does it give zero bonus stats, or a random set (eagle/monkey/falcon etc.)?

Do you really need 2 threads for this? Marketplace does not let you choose them. On wotlk you get the item without bonuses and according to a post in the other thread on Cata you get random bonus.
