1. Rogue Question (WoTLK)

So here I am on Lordaeron and I absolutely have no idea what Poison's to use on what weapon, any suggestions or tips? What am I looking to use in what situation?

Now i know Mind Numbing is to be used against casters or Wound Against Healers, but what about insta poison or Deadly? And can I use two Damage Poisons and skip out on Crippling Poison while questing or running dungeons?

Thanks for any tips and help you can offer me.

  2. The majority of your leveling process will be killing mobs, so my advice is to just ignore the PvP poisons unless you actually get to stalk a player and apply your poisons in advance for him. Basically, Instant Poison is a PPM and Wound Poison is a %chance to proc. Deadly Poison is also a %chance. That's on the damaging poisons' side. Crippling, Mind-numbing and Anesthetic Poison are all %chance, but they're strictly PvP-oriented and are very situational when it comes to PvE.

So... in the end there is no "best" option. The best option DPS-wise is IP on your slow MH and DP on your fast OH, but for leveling purposes for your Off-hand you might want to keep Crippling when fighting humanoid targets before picking up Blade Twisting, Waylay or Deadly Brew, Wound Poison if you want the high %chance proc it has and the healing reduction, Mind-numbing when fighting vs caster mobs, or even double IP for a quick but inconsistent burst of damage.

I prefer to keep IP + DP all the time, using disables on Humanoid targets when they attempt to run away. The damage from DP tends to be quite overwhelming during leveling once stacked up.

  3. if youre leveling as combat, go for double wound, does more damage in low levels than instant

  4. If you don't have at least 3 points in improved poisons, then instant in not worth it while leveling. Without it, you'd need an absurd level of attack power to match wound's dps.

Wound is generally better than instant without at least 3/5 improved poisons.
Instant even with 3/5 improved poisons is weaker than a new rank of wound poison. For example:

I can use instant poison rank x at lvl 36.
I can use wound poison rank Y at lvl 40.
Even with 3/5 in imp poisons, instant does less dps.

If you've got 4/5, go for instant
