Hi, basically i've got a question and i hope someone can shed some light on it.
I'm fairly new here, started playing 5 days ago and i noticed the pop cap of 10k with a queue of around 1500 on Sunday. Granted Sunday is the peak day of the week and i don't know how big the queue was on other days, but i think that for the majority of the afternoon/evening time in EU, the realm was full. Now i asked some people and did some reading and found out that the pop cap used to be less before, it's been incrementally increased. Not sure how big it was in the beginning, but now it's 11k. Today it was changed from 10k to 11k and today there was a 600 queue in addition to that 11k. Basically as far as i found out, when the cap was 6 k or so, the queue was also around 500-1k, which means that in a matter of a few months the pop has risen by 3-4 k ppl.
Now my concern is this -> With the increasing pop, the staff kinda has to push the cap higher and higher, because let's be honest... waiting 2 hours in the queue for 1500 ppl is not something, anyone wants to do. Hence at some point the pop might get so big that it will start affecting performance, causing serverside delay. I'm not talking about latency in milliseconds here, just to be clear.
Now one option is that they won't increase the cap so much that it would cause "lag", which means that we'll still have to sit in the massive queue.
The other option is that they will increase it, even though it lags and then we'll have to play in lag.
Neither are great.
I'm sure the realm is great and from what i've seen it is, but i'm just not sure i wanna invest my time here, when in a few months time i'll be playing in lag.
From my understanding they waiting this long to increase the cap because they wanted to make sure the server would be stable. Should there be stability problems or a delay because of the server load, Warmane will likely look into various other solutions.
Also keep in mind that once the Lordaeron Core goes to Ragnaros and Deathwing, a good portion of people will go back there.
As to "other solutions", i think there won't be any. It's either "play with lag and huge pop" or "play with limited pop and a massive queue". Basically i'm just wondering if i wanna invest my time here. Trying to think ahead you know. It seems the pop is ever increasing and that will force them to increase the cap even more which might lead to delay and once again, if they don't increase it, we'll have the queue, both options suck tbh.
Dunno why that cata realm with 200 ppl online is even kept up, should delete that and make Lordaeron nr 2 imho.
I'm quite new here, so i don't know anything about the other 2 realms u mentioned. Why did people leave Rag/DW?
As to "other solutions", i think there won't be any.
The other solution is supporting the realm with donations and be able to skip the queue.
Lordaeron biggest problem is not the queue but the lack of funding.
A high queue is even good for the realn because it increase the incentive to donate.

I do agree that it motivates some people to donate, to skip the queue indeed. This might even be used deliberately to get donations. I don't know the financial status of the realm, so i can't make any comments on whether they lack funding or not. The reality is though, that the majority of players on here are not donors and probably never will be, so there's no "solution" to them :)
Rag and DW charachters all BiS and ppl are bored. It's not fun anymore if you allready have all... everyone BiS. No point really, donor gear or not.
I see. Well Bioness mentioned that a lot of players will go back to Rag/DW when they introduce the Lordaeron core there. Why? Are they going to restart the realm or something?
Lordaeron cant fund itself. Right now its mainly ragnaros and deathwing who are funding Lordaeron.
Lordaerons community doesnt want a "pay for gear" model so paying to skip the queue might be the only solution for a solid income.
Yes i'm aware of ppl not wanting the "pay to win" stuff. Almost noone wants that and i agree, but it's not like the realms are separate. At the end of the day it's all Warmane. Other methods of getting money could also be introduced, like vanity items that have no actual effect.
Basically what i'm saying is that most ppl aren't donors anyway, so they're not gonna be skipping queue, which means they'll either be sitting in a ridiculous queue (cos it seems the pop keeps growing) or they will increase the cap so much that it will start affecting performance. Basically there's only those 2 options. Even if you skip queue via a donation, you can still find yourself playing with delay.
I'm just thinking ahead, trying to figure out if i wanna invest my time here or not, cos i think one of those 2 options is inevitable.

Because why play on a x1 realm, without RDF, with customly adjusted bosses (more hp/damage if i am correct)... When you can play on a higher rate realm, with RDF and bosses like they were in retail.
It is a matter of taste... :) whatever you want, but as many people complained about above things... they will probably go back to rag/dw merged realm.

Lordaeron shouldnt be a welfare project in the long term. U cant expect that players on deathwing/ragnaros are willing to pay for the lordaeron community.
Ppl that arent willing to pay dont support the server in any way so it wouldnt hurt to get rid of some of these nondonors.
Also, I dont see how vanity items are enough to fund lordaeron.
Imo there are only two solutions that grant a solid income: Pay for gear or pay to skip the queue.
If u arent willing to donate and to contribute to the server then its only fair that u need to wait in the queue.

Hmm i didn't know that there was going to be a merge. Also didn't know about the custom hp/dam. Ofcourse i understand why ppl would wanna play there, but what i didn't understand from Bioness' post, was that if some ppl are gonna go back there, then why did they leave in the first place?

I don't think the players on DW and Rag are saying "i'm paying for Lordaeron" to themselves, when they choose to donate. They want their shinies, that's all.
People can support realms in many ways, one is voting, another is spreading the word, inviting ppl from other realms over and/or making vids/streaming. Monetary donations aren't the only one.
I'd also like to mention that there's 2 realms that have very low pops, like Warsong with 100 ppl online...why even keep that up, delete it (offer donors stuff in other realms) and put the resources into other realms.
Not sure if vanity items can or can't fund Lordaeron (maybe sell lvl boosts aswell?). As was already said, noone wants a "pay to win" realm...do you? You want full BiS/Smourne (though that content ain't out yet, but still) so u could faceroll nubs? I don't and as can be seen, almost noone does.
About skipping the queue... well the cap has been growing anyway, so the goal obvsiously is to allow more ppl to log in simoultaneously, unless they have a business plan of deliberately delaying the cap increases, to gain more donations. Tbh i don't think that would be a great plan in the long run anyway, but as the pop is growing atm atleast, it just makes me think there's 2 options in the future. Either play with delay or sit in the queue, since the majority of ppl ain't donors anyway. Just trying to figure out if it's meaningul to invest my time here, that's all :)

Check the deathwing and ragnaros forum section.
Ppl there are already complaining that lordaerons community isnt willing to spend a single penny for playing here.
Yes there are other ways to support the server but in the end its always money that is necessary to pay the server and staff.
With out donations the server doesnt exist so some ppl here should really change their anti donor attitude.

Easily answered: the same reason I went to log on a couple of times on lordaeron :)
The quality difference is enormeous (I can't say anything about high levels, i am still low). Ofcourse, there are still plenty of bugs... I played the PTR for 2 minutes and reported 6 bugs already.... but hey! ALOT more things work on lordaeron than on DW/Rag atm :)
