1. Realm Merge Worth Progressing?

New player here, how is the realm working?

Is it moving Deathwing characters onto Ragnaros, moving Ragnaros onto Deathwing characters, or is it moving both Rag and Death onto a new server?

I ask because I'm a new character. If the merge is coming, there's no point farming because I doubt we can transfer items on characters onto that new server, no point in leveling professions and getting recipes, no point in getting tons of gold because there will be gold cap transfer.

Or is this all not limited?

    Thanks.

  2. 1. It is a merge, so your Character will NOT lose anything.
    2. from what I have read I guess there will be a new Realm, so Deathwing and Ragnaros Characters will be both moved to this new Realm*

*Even tho I think it would be way better using Deathwing, so only half of the players involved into this merge will have to use the "Free Transfer" feature

  3. Indeed. You are free to farm anything.

I would also like them to transfer Ragna to Deathwing.

  4. Indeed. You are free to farm anything.

I would also like them to transfer Ragna to Deathwing.
and everyone from rag would rather it be the opposite. requiring both to transfer is the only way to avoid a bunch of moaning from 1 server or the other.

  5. and everyone from rag would rather it be the opposite. requiring both to transfer is the only way to avoid a bunch of moaning from 1 server or the other.
The reason I said that it is because Deathwing has more players and in both case Ragnaros players have to use the "transfer" anyway; so from their point of view if they have to transfer to Deathwing or to a new realm it is the same

  6. Actually new server is the best possible idea. There are a lot of inactive accounts on both servers which take unnecesarry space on servers SSD's also taking some memory + server restarts takes longer because it has to load more data.

No. We would like to maintain a middle-ground, for the sake of fairness for players on both realms.

This is also incorrect. Guilds and their banks will be lost. There is also the possibility of losing names.

It's a larger issue than you've made it out to be, and one that we, the staff, intend to take very seriously.

  8. This is also incorrect. Guilds and their banks will be lost. There is also the possibility of losing names.
" you will not lose anything" was the answer to this:
"If the merge is coming, there's no point farming because I doubt we can transfer items on characters onto that new server, no point in leveling professions and getting recipes, no point in getting tons of gold because there will be gold cap transfer."

So I wanted to reassure that he will keep all the things he mentioned in his phrase

No. We would like to maintain a middle-ground, for the sake of fairness for players on both realms.
I know why, I wasn't complaining about the decision to make a new realm rather than use Deathwing ( I do not even play on those realms)

  9. Guilds and their banks will be lost. There is also the possibility of losing names.
Well this does not sound good but in order to clarify some things I'd like to be allowed to ask a few questions. I know it's early to talk about the details so i only ask for the things that you have mentioned.
I think I just read that ''Guilds and their banks will be lost and that there is also the possibility of losing names''. If so, is this an offer , an assumption, a notice or an ultimatum? Are these statements based on decisions already taken on these issues or only the part of the consideration? If so, I am sure you can give us a hint on the strategy as to how these losses will be compensated . (not only these losses but also those which will follow). I am sure we are not expected to accept things as they are.
And, since you 've already answered some of the previous questions in a very precise and clear way, would you be so kind as to inform us about what does the ‘’possibility’’ of losing names mean exactly? An example would be perfect for easy understanding. And finally, if you feel I am not well informed or If my perception on any of the above is in any way wrong , please correct me.

  10. Not based on decisions, but on technical limitations. It will be a new server to where characters will be transferred, hence guilds won't exist. Transferring character data and a whole guild's data isn't comparable and the margin of error is just too large - it would take just one person not transferring one character belonging to a guild to cause issues, as the guild would try to reference a character that doesn't exists. Regarding character names, even if we implement a policy to try to minimize that, there can still be cases of a name being taken in both servers that will make up the population of the new one - someone will have to give, and that's just one example.

  11. Thank you very much for your reply , now things are much clearer , in fact perfectly clear to me and probably to many who wanted to ask the same questions.

  12. To CONFIRM
My professions and recipes are safe?
My gold will be kept the same?
Guild/personal bank tabs and items within them will be lost?
I will be able to transfer ALL characters even level 1 bank alts with less than 2hr play time?

  13. personal bank tabs and items within them will be lost?
Wow, wait, nobody mentioned personal inventory. I understood the guild banks can't be transferred even if they belong to only one person (and it’s alts) and is used for storing tons of materials , so I thought ok I'll just move all the stuff to a personal bank and i will not have to worry about that.
If we lose everything from the personal bank too , then we have only bags which are already almost full and used for storing the gear in most cases. (in my case three sets of gear are in the bags/the fourth and the fifth are in the bank). So, if those sets I don't use as much don't fit in the bags does it mean they're lost? I really doubt it cause it doesn't make sense.

Solid update. Can I get a comment on what the minimal level needed to be for transfer? I'm assuming that that's one thing that will implemented to help rightful names going to players. Also, I know I'm reaching, but can we get a comment on if there will be a gold cap for transfer, and if so what that will be as well?

As a player who transfered trough realms meny times I will tell you what you keep and what you lose:

You keep all equipped gear, all gear and items in your bags, bank slots, and bank bag slots.
You keep all currency including gold, emblems, arena and honor points etc.
You keep all achievements, statistics and titles.
You keep all quests done, profession and weapon skills, riding abilities etc
You keep all pets, mounts, minions, companions.
    You keep all profession recipes.

You lose guild, all items in guild bank, arena team.
You lose all items you sent (to alt) or items in mailbox.
You lose all items you had on Auction House, if any.
You lose friend and ignore list.

Maybe I missed something so people can add more, but basicly that is it.
