WotLK The Aspirant's Challenge quest isn't working after the Core Update

For some reason the The Aspirant's Challenge quest isn't working after the core update, I found in this Guide that you need to kill it without the horse, so I assume that it was the way to do it before the core update, since now if you dismount, the Argent Valiant will disappear, BUT, even if you kill it using the horse and the lance, it doesn't count toward the quest progress, I can kill it how many times I want, it doesn't count.

How do I complete the Chain Quest now?
