I ussually go for something like this for leveling: http://wotlk.openwow.com/talent#LGMc0fZhZVItrb0zidIzsGo

Generally pick new abilities ASAP, after that whatever gives you more damage first and return for defensive talents later as fillers.

You want to reach shockwave first, than fill arms tree for Deep Wounds and Armored to the Teeth at the end (its great talent, you just dont have enough armor for it to pay off untill later).

  3. u sure i dont need tactical mastery earlier? glyphs advice too pls

Tactical mastery isnt necessary because u are anyway in def stance for most of the time.
U can consider to spec 00/20/51 for the improved cleave dmg.
When u attack multiple mobs cleave does the highest portion of ur total dmg.
http://wotlk.openwow.com/spell=14204 doesnt stack with http://wotlk.openwow.com/spell=29594 though.

As glyphs get devestate, shockwave and blocking.

  5. Improved cleave is terrible, it doesn't increase the damage by Cleave by 120%, it increases the bonus damage of Cleave by 120%, you're spending 3 talents to make Cleave do almost as much damage as Heroic Strike, incredible waste of talent points. The best way to level as Prot in early levels is.

    Shield spec x5 > Improved Thunder Clap x3 > Incite x2 > Improved Revenge x2 > Shield Mastery x2 > Incite x1

So as to maximise your rage and damage, from there on just follow whatever tanking/pvp based build you want, but don't even think about leaving the Prot tree before you have Shockwave and don't waste your time with Improved Cleave.

+1 (I always like to take Last Stand before Improved Revenge, since I love it - but that's just a matter of preference.)

As for glyphs for leveling. I would get Glyph of Revenge and Heroic Strike, third doesn't rly matter.

  7. First of all, if you plan on going DPS when you reach 80, then Prot is not the best choice. Why? Because as Prot you use one-handed weapons and you'll need to level your two-handed skill from 0. Try going Arms. It's just as good as Prot for single-target, if not even better. And you'll fare a lot better in outdoor PvP. As Protection you're a walking free kill for casters.

As for talents, I don't see Last Stand as being necessary. I mean, why would you even need it? There's no point in it. Your main damage comes from Revenge and Shield Slam, so improving those two abilities and getting as much avoidance as possible for more Revenge procs is the most important thing. Thus talents like Anticipation are better than Toughness. Consider getting rage-reduction talents as well, which will make you more rage-effective. Vigilance is another talent which you simply do not need during leveling.

No talent is truly necessary ;-). You can lvl-up without them, if you want to... its pretty much always a matter of preference.
What I like about Last Stand:
saves you when you pull too many/too strong mobs by accident
very helpful when you have to pvp
def cd for those dungeons you get into + practice in using def cds in case you decide to tank anything later.

I see Toughness as nearly useless while leveling - you simply don't have enough armor for it to pay off.
Vigilance is also a matter of preference - if you train yourself in using it for dungeons, you will use it in heroics/raids (in case you decide to tank).
