1) 1v1
2) BGs
3) Arena (2s and 3s)
I seem to see wayyyy more Shadow Priests than Warlock/Mages. Is that because that are superior?
They r not superior. I would say that all three classes r equal, only frost mage has a little disadvantage in BGs but for duels and arenas they r equal.
Also imo shadow priests are worst in 3s of these three classes. I dont say that shp cant get rank 1 in 3s, i just want to say that locks and mages r more present in top ranks even if they r not played by best players in wotlk.
Here is how I would rank them:
1v1: Frost mage > Spriest / affli > Destro
BG: Equal
2v2: Frost mage / Spriest / affli > Destro
3v3: Frost mage / Spriest / affli > Destro
Obviously all classes have one or more comps that are perfectly viable for rank1, but.. Everytime I see destro in arena, I think to myself, yay free rating. And Ive had the same feeling every patch I've played arena, regardless of which class I've been maining. (Been maining Rogue, Spriest, Mage, Warlock and Druid over the years, not at the same time obviously.) And yes, I've lost to destro locks plenty of times, but they just don't feel like they are as good as Frostmages/Spriest/afflis.
And when it comes to dueling. Well, mages are kings of duels.
If you are trying to decide, which class to level. Just pick the one closest to your heart. All can be extremely fun to play.
On Warmane, I feel like there is a lot more Warlocks than there are Spriests and a lot more Warlocks/Spriests than mages, but that is just my impression, might be completely wrong about this.
imo spriest is worst class to play in bg all you do is spam 2 spells no skill at all but for arena is other story because you are both DpS and support, and mages are awesome in every possible way in pvp either frost, arcane or especialy fire if you know to play it, and arcane is best for bgs that burst.. frost is more deffensive spec means for arena, duel but doesnt mean u can win every caster with frost for example arcane mage destroy frost if played properly/cced properly also fire can beat frost easily but its hardest spec to play imo. SO if u starting mage i sugest trying arcane. then move frost, also people saying arcane is spamming arcane blast, missiles, barragee wooooh which is completely not true u need to have perfect timing what to do and when to do and arcane is amazing for kitting u just need to combine some spells and thera ya go holy f... don't hate me now
This. Mage is much harder to play than warlock or sp in arena. It's usually sp's or warlocks that get top ranks in arena. Small exception to SP/mage in 2s, but they usually get rekt by dks and such.
Lol what. Mage is by far the easiest to play out of the three. Warlock is probably the hardest because of the pet control/dispels and managing layers of CC.
Shadow Priest has a low skill floor but a high skill ceiling.
Priests most likely have the highest skillcap in the game. If you are spamming 2 spells in bg as a spriest and you think support is for arenas only and not bgs, you are doing it wrong. Even if you are only dotting people (which would be a stupid strategy) you would be using 3 spells. Frost/fire > arcane in every form of pvp. Arcane might be the easiest spec to play tho. Arcane is amazing for kiting? Compared to what? Specless mages? Obviously arcane is good for kiting, but both fire and frost do that better too.
I agree, majority of the time a frost mage will be superior out of those 3 choices and they have several stuns and mob effects. The main different in the 3 will be the amount of damage, specifically burst damage they will deal. Warlocks have sustained damage with the exception of 10k crit chaos bolts from destro and have increased survival with their pets. Shadow Priests would have to be the opposite of frost mages, with their burst building up relying on the ability to land all of their skills leading up to the burst, they are not like warriors where they pop cooldowns and do immense damage. Frost does the least damage of the 3 but has the ability to last the longest via kiting and iceblocks + mage stealth, meanwhile they pop icy veins and cast their clone spell.
Choosing a class will mainly determine your playstyle.
Yea I want to play at a faster pace. I guess that would make the Mage the best choice? Or maybe even a destro lock
Faster pace = any of the classes/specs
If you are unsure of which type of playstyle you want, go warlock. Affliction for dot-spec and Destruction for burst-spec.
Want to test out healing possibly? Go Shadowpriest with disc-offspec.
Want to control the movement of melees? Go mage.
