    Is ShadowPriest worth playing?

So here is my question, is ShadowPriest worth leveling ? How is the spec doing once 80 ? Is it gear dependent ?
I am asking in both pvp and pve, but I'll be mostly playing pvp.

This is my first priest ever so I'm kinda lost and I don't know what the spec can bring to the table. I've seen a lot of guide but only for advanced player and about gearing.

Any advice is welcomed, thank you for reading :)

It is worth! It's a very good dps spec for dungeons/raids. It has nice utiliy with good dps (increased %hit rating for the raid with misery, mana replenishment, stamina/spirit/shadow resistance buffs, huge mana return CD, some occasional heals/shields if needed, etc).
Uhm when i started dpsing with it, it felt as if it's not super gear dependant to be decent, i think it's pretty balanced.
I don't have a guide for gearing, but what i did is just grind rep for the northrend factions and ended up with 3k gs (factions + quests rewards). Enough to start doing some normals for eot's and then move forward for hc's and raids.
I haven't pvp'd on it much, but it is viable for 2's, don't know about 3's.
Their cc is awesome for pvp!
Hope this helps a bit :)

Mainly PvPer here, if this is your first shadow priest it might look a little bit underwhelming to play at the start, IMO shadow priests are very gear dependent in PvP, the reason is why I think that, because I play shadow on Lordaeron my GS is like 3.5k which is above average and I play on Blackrock (PvP only server where you get instant 80lvl and best gear available) and the gameplay between is totally different. On Lordaeron if I get chased by melees I die pretty fast and oh man the mana issues are annoying since shadow is going oom faster than retail is loosing its' subscribers, when on Blackrock I am able to tank lots of damage, never get oom and the damage is insane. But I definitely feeling a lot stronger on Lordaeron with every single upgrade I get.

Don't get me wrong, shadow gameplay is really fun, but it is not easy to start or become good with. Shadow priests in arenas are like supportive dps class, since you can provide lots of utility for your teammate. So if you feel like shadow priest game play is for you go for it :)

Thank you for your replies !
As I am kinda casual and I don't even know if I'll get to full gear max lvl I wanted to assure that I'll have fun and be useful. It seems like it, I had a lot of struggle but now That I am 22 lvl it is getting easier.
I don't really like to be gear dependant but Spriest look like it is less gear dependant that the other class that I wanted to play, warrior.
I hope that I will become a good Spriest with the time !

PvP is not going to be fun at the start simply because of how squishy you will be but a week or two of serious grinding in bg will find you outfitted in furious mainset and wrathful offset gear(get an arena team going so you can snag the belt and boots asap and work towards saving for mainset gear) but even at 5.5k once you are fully pvp-geared you will feel much stronger and more capable. Saving vp now for the 1h mace from LK and/or a trinket is also wise.

Great in PvP, in PvE you will have to deal with resists which isn't a big deal if you aren't going to be serious about raiding, in 5 mans you'll do great AoE dps but most mobs in 5 mans are usually hard to single dps due to how fast they die since everyone usually overgears the dungeons by a lot.
