    hardware

    Hello, fellow multiboxers.

So, i am currently boxing 15chars for pvp purposes.
firstly, imma write down my pc info, wich was manually selected by a friend of mine.
    there it goes :
    2.0 IntelĀ® Core™ I5-6600K 3.9Ghz Turbo mode 4core
    Ram - Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB 2133MHz x2
    SSD Kingston
2x gtx 960(70% sure about this, dont remember fully)

i personaly am not really brained for this stuff, just recently started trying to learn why and how everything works behind the hood, and i simply want to know others opinions.
basicly, im currently thinking that my pc should handle more chars than it is(wich is 15, with that at once, i can do av, but cant do wintergrasp). so i want to know, is there something that doesint fit here, is total crap and i should definetly change it, or maybe add something cus im missing stuff, or maybe thats all okay, and 15 is my limit?

Please be respectful, i want normal answers.

P.S im using isboxer if it changes anything.

Run some monitoring software whilst you play and see what the bottleneck is. Most likely the ram or the gpu I would imagine.

If you are using ISBoxer, then using 2x gpus won't bring any benefit unless you are using multiple monitors as far as I know.

well i just simply get 100% cpu, memory never reaches more than 60%. maybe you could suggest the monitoring software?

    and im using 2x monitors

You basically answered your own question there. If the CPU is running at max, especially in not completely intense situations, there is your bottleneck. Honestly on that PC I would roll with a ten man setup just to ensure everything ran smooth in all situations and not keeping your CPU stressed out all the time.

It is a nice system, if you plan to add more characters though, I would get an additional box to run more. If you are dead set on playing 15-20 on one system, you will need to find a way to get more CPU, which could mean changing motherboard/CPU etc depending on what you went with.

Ah I see. It looks as if your cores are not balancing the load correctly. Two of the cores seem to not have as much on them as the two that are maxed out. Do you have any idea what you had set the CPU strategy to when doing the initial setup?

    CPU Strategy

If you go to the link in the help section (one on the right) or under the wizard menu, you can find the settings for assigning the load per cores aka CPU Strategy.

    [

You can read more information about it if you do not have very good understanding of what it is by clicking that "Manage Your CPUs" link pictured above.

If you go to the CPU Strategy Wizard from the Wizard menu you will see this which should look familiar.

Multiboxing 15 accounts at once with a i5 processor is too much. I've got a hexacore 3930k which i use to control 15 accounts and it's just enough to do the most intensive battles like wintergrasp and city raids.
If possible you should look into a good i7 processor, preferably a hexacore.

edit: What can help boost your fps a lot is reducing background and foreground max FPS of your clients. Try setting background FPS to maximum 12 and foreground max fps 35.

thats what i was afraid of...

i already did the screenshot with 30/15, later on i reduced slaves to 10, but it wasint much of a differance.

i already tryed managing cpu stradagies, tho i setted 1st cpu to main window, and letted isboxer manage the other 3 cpu's for slave chars.

    Thanks guys for answers^^

The problem is that you only have 4 threads to handle the 15 clients, if you really want to be able to join WG and AV you may have to upgrade your CPU or downgrade your team to 10 chars (and even then... 10 chars is also a lot for 4 threads).

my goal is 25, and im thinking about upgrading current pc. tho im not sure, should i aim to get 25 with single machiene or think about getting new pc for linking?
further more, any suggestion on what cpu's i should get? for 15man team, and maybe 25?

If u have money, the best way - buy 2 pc's with I7 6700k. You may run up to 30 chars w/o issues and use it as well for Legion expansion.
Or wait for I7 6950X (10 cores, 20 threads) and use just 1 pc.

what about 5930k? or 5820k? would single 5930 hold up with 25chars?

i kinda doubt 2x 6700k would be enuf for 30, but meh, havint tryed so... xd

Speaking from personal experience. If you're going for new hardware setup, here's my advice:
    1. CPU - i7 5820k is VERY effective, you don't have to worry about overclocking it but if you can overclock it to 4.5GhZ or something of that sort then you're pretty much sorted till the next generation of gaming.
    2. RAM - Not much to look in here, if you're looking for 20-25 characters then you're going to need at least 32GB of ram, DDR4 2400 MhZ (Preferably)
    3. GPU - If you ask me, GTX 980 TI is pretty expensive but well worth it, if you can afford to spend $600-$700 on it then go for it, it's well worth it. However, if you're short on budget after the RAM and CPU, I recommend GTX 970, preferably GeForce Strix, (To be honest, get a SLI of that and you're pretty much good to go, SLI GTX 970 is better than a 980 Ti and way more efficient) If you want a little bit cheaper version of Strix, MSI GTX 970 Gaming is beautiful, I have it and I absolutely love it. I run 15 WoD accounts and in big battles my VRAM usage is usually 2500 MB, 60% Core usage.

Good luck and be careful with hardware, do your research very well before you decide to buy anything. Don't take my recommendations for granted, do the research first and if you're well enough convinced of my recommendations after your research then by all means, go for it and have fun gaming!

and one last question, whats the differance between 5820k and 5930k? cus i keep searching and cant find any huge differances apart from price being almost 2x higher for 5930
