Question for a new player

I made a toon on Icecrown thinking x7 leveling would be awesome. Only part I didn't think of was making the money I need to buy new spells as well as getting better gear since I'm skipping probably over half the quests in each zone. Do I need to go ahead and do those quests anyways as well as grind mobs that drop money, or is there some other tactic I'm unaware of?

As soon as I made this topic, I looked at the AH and saw the cost of copper bars. Farmed a couple stacks and have them up on the AH. Assuming they sell, I should be good.
