Hey, just recently downloaded WotLK from the website and changed the realmlist to logon.warmane.com but it still isn't working at all. Also sometimes on BitTorrent I get a Error access is denied on the WotLK download (even though it is finished). I'm not sure if I'm on the write forum thread (General Discussions) but any help is appreciated!
I'll move this to the Support & QA section of the forum shortly after this post.
Which WotLK client did you download? The client marked as old seems to have some connection issues for some people. I would highly suggest that you download the WotLK client marked as new. If you wish to disable the WoD character models on that client (they can cause crashes and errors), you can use this information to disable the models: http://forum.warmane.com/showthread.php?t=312365
Could you provide what error(s) you are getting exactly?
Also please make sure that you are logging in with your Warmane account info and not your email address.
I know the login field will ask for your email, and it is misleading because of that. But this is due to the client having been designed for Blizzard's battle.net 2.0.
It's not exactly the error thats the problem, it's the fact that I can't login to warmane even thought I've changed the realmlist, and try logging in with my warmane account info. When it does error, its on BitTorrent and the bar turns red and it says "Error: Access is denied (ReadfromDis).
So your BitTorrent is giving you an error when you attempt to log in? When you try to log in, is your BitTorrent seeding the WoW files? If so, have you tried stopping the torrent and/or closing (completely) your BitTorrent program?
You can press your PrntScrn button. Open up Paint or whatever. Ctrl+V. Crop the image as you please. Upload the image to imgur.com and then copy/paste the link here.
I see. Am I understanding you correctly that the torrent program won't allow you to open the WoW client? If you can open the WoW client and attempt to log in, it doesn't allow you correct? What does the WoW client tell you when you attempt to log in? Also, have you tried logging into the WoW client after having completely turned off your torrent program?
No, I can open WoW all the time, I attempt to log in and it gives me the connecting message until an eventual couldn't log in try again later. This happens when I have BitTorrent on or off.
I don't believe it would be torrent related, unless the files were corrupted when downloaded, or that the download wasn't completely finished. But as far as I can tell from your picture, the download was finished. Which is why I believe it's unrelated to the torrent. However, in the event of a corrupt file, the method to correct the issue is simply to redownload the entire client.
As for your realmlist, you have it correct, but is there anything at all in your realmlist file other than just the "set realmlist logon.warmane.com"? If there is more in the realmlist file than just that line, remove it and try logging in again.
The only factors that should affect connection on your side would be firewall settings (make sure you set it to allow WoW to connect, or just simply turn it completely off for a trial run) or an antivirus program (which, if you have one running, turn it off for a trial run of logging into WoW).
If none of this applies, then it is most likely either server-side, or there is some sort of routing issue between you, your ISP and us. In the case of a routing issue, there's not much that either you or the staff here can do but wait.
Nope the realmlist seems to be correct, I'll try and re download tomorrow, thanks for trying to help. I'll check back in once I redownload and I guess we'll see from there.
The firewall settings allow WoW to connect as well.
