So I'm pretty new to hunter, and Ive heard you're always supposed to be in Hawk/Dragonhawk when casting Chimera Shot, so would it be advisable to macro the two together as Aspects and damaging shots arent on the same GCD

It is true that you should be in dragonhawk when you chimera shot however it's not like you'll be switching aspects every 10 seconds. I would only use it for kill shot since it's not as spammable as Chimera Shot however it's just better to bind all your aspects and remember which one you're in. It'll be second nature eventually. Also if you macro it together it'll do the aspect animation instead of the shot animation and makes it looks weird. If you insist on macroing them together because you forget then here it is however I recommend just learning to remember which aspect you're in; 90% of the time you'll be in dragonhawk anyway.
