Is the population really as bad as everyone makes it out to be ? I am just starting a new toon on the realm and I'd hate to play with a handful of players on my faction.
From what I saw yesterday, there's about 3k people on Lord. Divide that by 50% because you don't do much with the other faction besides killing each other and we're at about 1.5k people on each side.
Is that enough for a healthy play for someone that doesn't know the game ? Will it be enough to play every piece of content the game has to offer properly ? With RDF disabled, I imagine it would be very difficult to find people for dungeons.
Thanks. From what I've seen though the population is quite low and the lack of RDF really makes things impossible. I'm afraid I won't be able to play on Lord like I wanted to.

Are you serious? Where have you guys been so far? Is it just me that played on 500 player realms all these years? 6k is amazing and 12k on icecrown is even more crazy. You should consider yourself lucky, when i started to play on molten years ago they only had 1k players online.
Lordaeron for PVE, Icecrown for PVP.
Started playing on lordaeron few days after it came out, been playing on it until 2 months ago. If you like raiding, and if you expect people to know what they're doing, definitely go with Lordaeron. Icecrown's pve is pretty underwhelming. Everyone is obsessed with gearscore, people have very little knowledge of their class, even the ones from "good" guilds. If you like pve, you'll be very annoyed by this. Not to mention people needing on stuff you need, and they clearly do not(caster cloak on death knight), and getting kicked before boss dies so you cant roll on an item they need, and reporting wont do anything since there's "not enough proof".As for PVP, icecrown is way ahead, even leveling is more fun if you want to play multiple classes, the rate being x7.
As you are probably aware, lordaeron's content is buffed. You'll find yourself entering heroic toc10 all amped up, thinking "this can't be much harder than the normal mode". But boy is there a difference. I don't know if they've nerfed it a little bit, but my guild got stuck on jaraxxus while I've still played there. Everyone was pulling 10k-13k dps, and yet we couldn't get portal down before third mistress, were few % off, and I'd end up having 10+ adds and jaraxxus on me, not to mention healers getting a dot at worst possible moments. Raiding is challenging, and progressing feels quite rewarding, if you have the stomach for it.
ICC should be coming up in february if I'm not mistaken, I think it'll bring more players in, since toc gets boring pretty fast, if the warmane devs do it right, it may be the best raid yet (for me, naxxramas was the golden age of lordaeron, hard in the beggining, takes weeks to progress and adjust, but farmable after you got the hang of it). Cheers

I wouldn't let RDF be a huge part of your decision, RDF on icecrown seems to be broken and is practically useless below level 72ish.
Its the highest population on any 1x realm out there. So if you're looking for an authentic 1x experience to enjoy with many other players then this is the best option. Not to mention the lack of store here which makes the experience more meaningful. Or you could go ice crown donate there and continue to support Lordaeron ^^ either way it = win.

What are u talking about? I did tons of RDF while leveling up and it works.
The extra XP for completing RDF is buggy though, only gives x1 XP on Icecrown so questing with x7 rates is much faster than doing rdf.

There is no one saying that Lordaeron are bad, but still there is always room for improvement.
Saying it is the 1x realm with highest population is correct if we talk about Wotlk. It does not change the fact that there are some queueing problems with arena for example.
"Either way it is a win" if even more people leave to Icecrown? You want to kill the server? ^^
