The real problem is that botting BGs is:
1. Extremely profitable.
2. Has zero risk of any meaningful punishment, so long as you stop if you get caught twice.
Almost no one reports the bots (or the hackers)! I think less than 2% of people who see a BG bot actually make an ingame ticket about it, and less than 0.1% of the time do people video hackers for a report (probably even less often for mere bots). Both these percentages are thought out "high" estimates, based on various observations ingame and the logical conclusions thereof.
As a real life metaphor:
Imagine you are multiple people and can switch who you are.
Time moves forward for all the people you are as normal, but you only experience what goes on for the you who you chose to be.
If you rob a bank and get caught, you have all your money confiscated but keep all your possessions.
"You" also serve jail time the first two times "you" are caught, but that "you" is executed the third time. Jail time does not affect you, as you can simply change to another "you".
The bank doesn't know if it is robbed unless a special representative is there and looking out for a robbery.
Other people in the bank notice if you are robbing the bank. Even though they cannot be harmed, and their banking experience is negatively affected, and they know exactly who you are, the others in the bank don't usually bother to report you for robbing a bank. Almost no one whatsoever gets their phone out and videos you robbing the bank. The video evidence is often not even watched by the bank representative who merely insists he will "look into it".
The bank doesn't really care about being robbed as it magically prints the money at zero cost.
It's only logical to rob banks repeatedly and spend all the money as fast as you can, until caught twice on that particular "you", or do not have anything else you want to buy.
This is an absurd as **** situation, but it's pretty much exactly the situation as it stands regarding botting on new alts on new accounts on this server on any expansion.
