My name is Napoliane, and I have been playing retail wow for 9 years, and private servers for 2 years.
I am currently having a blast on ***, but my group moved there from ***. My question is, what made you choose Warmane? What stands out among other WotLK servers?
My experience on *** was fun, but the Northrend content left more to be desired.
I'd love to start back on another WotLK server, but I'd like to ask the community what they think before I start on yet another server.
-Tons of people, every zone is dotted with them and hub cities are overflowing
-Quite a bit less hacking than when it was mol10, there arent demo's flyhacking to the chamber in 1 out of every 3 sota's, half the people in outlands/tanaris aren't simply sliding around like hypersonic hockey pucks, no shadow priests mind controlling (even from your own faction) and tossing you 10000 ft up in the air at random. I think a lot of people don't remember just how bad it used to be. Still annoying the few times when it does happen though
that's about it really. Scripting is okay far from perfect and I can think of servers that do it better but it's not really worth going to them to play with 1/5 the people or less (1/10 or less if you want to believe the population numbers, which while i firmly believe are the highest of all wotlk servers by a wide margin.. are not that high.)
This is by far the biggest/stable WOTLK server. The only downside is if you play on Icecrown, tons of P2W ret pallys/arms warriors/ and cancer unholy dks. Other than that just hop on the x1 blizzlike server and things will be TONS better, no more donor buddies being BIS that in retail only like 10 on an entire server ever was (and that's with the help of their entire guild/friends to get there) I would far prefer Warmane tho to it's counterparts. As the other servers usually have cliques that are friends with GMs and get special attention, are prone to hacking (like speed/fly/tp hacks etc), lower population like 500 compared to 12k on warmane at peak. pretty much Warmane is better in every way besides the cash shop for Icecrown. Other than that this is a solid server.
Big population. I can log in at 4 AM and do my daily RDF/VoA/weekly quest/whatever without any problems, because there's always a ton of people online. That's the most important thing in WoW. All the other WotLK servers feel empty with their pitiful 1500 online @ peak.
I've quit molten/warmane many times, but I always come back. At least it won't shut down any time soon like *cough* that big vanilla server.
WOTLK servers are definitely the best ones out there. Plus the population. You can PUG 25m raid at 5am in the morning. There are guilds with GR at 5am in the morning.
My reason is simple : I got to know Warmane when some friends asked me to join them in Frostwolf. It was a relatively enjoyable experience for someone totally new to WoW expansions.
However, after my guildmates left, I was drawn to WoTLK, yet I wanted to experience the most legit experience ever. Lordaeron was the closest so I went there. I did try Deathwing for awhile and found that I terribly hate the 7x XP rate because I barely managed to get any gear or finish any of my quests before having to move out.
