Okay so, this may upset some of the hardcore wannabes on the server, but being fresh on Blackrock, as, I didn't play after Arena Tournament merged with you guys, I am experiencing the grind. Now I've started up again, and I've realised the drain, and the bore of trying to gear. The main issue that stands out for me, is the offsets, and the fact you can't purchase ANYTHING with honour except transmog. Before I go any further, I know for a fact I'll get flamed by some people saying "Omg just get higher rating then on flush you'll get more points", right, and how are you supposed to get higher rating when past 1.7/1.8 all you run into is FW players? It's literally impossible to beat and it's so frustrating to go up against when you know you played better, but they won purely due to gear.
Gear should not be an issue in 2017, the game is old, who wants to be spending time gearing when almost everyone has experienced the tediousness a hundred times over. So, what I'm suggesting is perhaps make honour actually useful? Right now, what can you do with honour? Purchase over-priced Arena Cases for 25,000 each for the chance of getting a transmog? At least make a few pieces require around 60,000 honour, perhaps Belt and Bracers?
The fact the flush is only twice a week is a big issue as well, as I stated earlier, it's very difficult getting to a decent rating as the gear is a big factor, and when a fresh player gets to around 1.8 then queuing is absolutely pointless, to run into Full Wrathful players. Currently, after 3 flushes, I have only 1000 Arena Points. This is just a suggestion btw, what do other people think?
In the current state it is a slap in the face for any competitive pvper, what should basically be the equivalent of Blizzard's tournament realm, a safe haven for serious pvpers who dont care about anything else, isn't really any different than simply playing a much lower pop contentless Icecrown. The least you should expect gain from losing that open world/pve/community experience is a truly fair and competitive pvp experience.
Not long ago it was like that, all chars basically came out the gate BiS, skill was the #1 factor deciding who succeeded and who failed, as it should be. I can't imagine why they decided taking away stuff people had worked for and earned and then adding the gear hamster wheel was a good idea. People want to struggle against their own flaws as players and feel that when they lose it is because they have been outplayed. They don't want the hamster wheel. It is so demoralizing to simply lose without making any major mistakes because of stat differences. Even winning is less satisfying when you knew you had the advantage as soon as the gates open and you saw their hp.
I was not here for AT, I was a mol10 baby, but I can tell just by the name the server used to carry that a fair and competitive pvp experience as at the forefront of the servers appeal, and I respect those that played on it. I'm truly sorry that our guys took over like they did and made these changes, just because the size of the molten community was so eclipsing. I know I'd carry a lot of bitterness towards Molten if I was an AT player.
Good luck, here's hoping they #MakeBlackrockGreatAgain
