WotLK Best Retri Pala 1h+shield in PvP

I have a ret pala 5/5 wrath ( 1100 resil with sword, 1250 with 1h+s), with holy wrathful shield and I would like to get a 1h holy weapon but I don’t know which one is best for pvp. The reason I am not sure what to get is because the Wrathfull Gladiator’s Salvation has m/5s which won’t help me that much in PvP ( I can sustain mana pretty good with DP, Jud, etc.). I was thinking of getting the Bloodsurge, Kel'Thuzad's Blade of Agony hc or Royal Scepter of Terenas II hc but that means I lose resilience and I think that’s quite important especially when I am using 1h+s to turtle and get my health back. However I also saw some paladins with Last Word hc aswell.

In conclusion which weapon would you pick and why? Is the blessing form Last Word worth it, do you also use it and more damage for your burst ( equip 1h+s >get str bonus from blessing> equip 2h >wings for more damage & how hard would this be to do in a fight)? Is the m/5sec worth taking for the extra resilience in Wrathful Gladiator's Salvation, or the haste + crit + sp from Bloodsurge, Kel'Thuzad's Blade of Agony will compensate the resilience loss?

Royal Scepter > Kel'Thuzad's > Gladiator's Salvation

The two strongest stats you can get out of using 1h/shield to heal yourself as Ret are SP and crit. Both of these stats directly buff the power of your instant flashes from Art of War.

Mp5 is about useless if you use Judgement as often as you should, which grants you mana directly and the Replenishment buff on top of it. If you are having mana trouble (like getting mana burned), that is what Seal of Wisdom and Divine Plea are for. Keep in mind that if you really need to regen mana for your 1h/shield self-healing, you will already be attacking faster due to using a 1h weapon. Also remember that you can auto-attack pets for mana as well.

Haste is nearly useless as well, since the only things that it benefits are your auto attacks and cast times. Auto attacks being buffed by haste is extremely negligible for a Ret for damage due to the massive down times you will have due to being kited or staying away from dangerous opponents. Cast times are irrelevant, since you should never be caught hard-casting a spell outside of Divine Shield. Being interrupted will lock you out of a large number of abilities and will leave you extremely vulnerable.




Last Word is an interesting choice. Your self-healing is stronger with a proper SP weapon. Last Word could be a good choice if you needed to weapon swap while you have a healer that is healing you, in order to turtle up. It's not advisable when the heals you need to rely on are your own. Unless you want to put forth the extra effort to try and get the weapon to proc (RNG), then swap to your healing weapon. Would be more effort than what the minor increase to healing would be worth in my opinion, though.

Sure, you could use it to boost your burst damage. However, remember that it is an RNG proc. It is also not a particularly strong proc, and may not be worth using for your burst damage. Especially if you establish a pattern that allows the enemy to predict your burst.
