i've noticed a lot of Bots lately on Outland. Every gathering route and every primal farming spot has at least one or more...
1. How do i report them properly so they get banned ?
2. Why arent the developers doing something against it ? I know several private servers where you get instantly banned if you activate any kind of memory injection (which 95% of the common bots are based on). Well, maybe not any kind because thats kinda hard to do. But none of the easily accessible botting programs work. Which reduces the botting population to a marginal factor.
What exactly is enough proof ? And why the hell is it MY responsibility to proof someone is botting ? Whoever runs the server is responsible for ensuring that there are no violations of their rules. If players point out very suspicious behavior it is the job of the admins to investigate and take measures if necessary. If the rules have to be enforced by the players its practially anarchy...
The link you posted doesnt mention bots. It is about scammers and ninjas. Is botting even forbidden here or is it tolerated ?
To answer your questions. Using any third party program is bannable, for proof I recommend video capturing (I know it takes time), taking screenshots about it can be messy so that is the reason. As for anti-cheat system, if I am correct they are working on improving it so it catches these kind of players and they can be suspended. You can of course choose not to report those kind of players since there is no rule that states that, but it would be appreciated both by players and staff.

I linked to you the post "General In-game reporting", which explain how to report players, that is it.
yes, using Bot is bannable and if you really play on TBC realm you shold have noticed that almost every hour on chat appear a long list of players banned because of botting
So reporting a name and telling an admin to check that player wont do anything ? I have to make a video ? Cause i did report several players, but nothing happened. Now i know why. Most players wont bother with taking a video. If i did that for every bot i encounter while im garhtering or farming i'd be doing more video recording and uploading than playing. At least it feels like that. The last two times i went herb gathering i encountered 3 or more bots in under an hour. While recording a video is definately a good measure against botting, it cant be only one.
Yes i notice the ban lists, but 90% of those accounts are spam bots. They are practially yelling to everybody "Please ban me, im spamming for a third party gold site." Those bots are annoying, but not the real issue here. As i said before, the farm bots are everywhere and the measures that are currently taken against them are obviously not working. That's why i am here to figure out whats going on.
From my experience when I asked and i quote "Can gm's monitor players that have been reported for using illegal things" The answer I got was, that it's not their job, so they can do it if they want to, but they don't have to. So there are 2 things players can do, wait for anti-cheat system to function on it's full potential and report these kind of players.

Ok, good to know. To be fair, whoever employs the admins decides what their duties are. If the warmane owners dont want admins to do those things, its their decision. And while i would very much like the community to help out the admins where they can, expecting fully comprehensive video evidence is something that cant and shouldnt be expected from the playerbase. At least in my opinion.
I got the info that i wanted now. Would be cool to see a statement from an official on this, but i guess its unlikely. Thanks for everyones input. Lets hope whatever anti-cheat software will be employed is up to the task. Until then, we'll have to live with the bots.

As I was once told by owner of Warmane " We all together have things to work on to make Warmane a better place, including staff. So well, we shall wait and see.
if they didn't require some sort of proof you'd have people that would report players not botting solely to waste the gm's time. if bots matter to people that much they will eventually report them correctly.

As i've stated before, there are private servers who detect most if not all common botting software the moment you activate it and ban you. Cause the dll hooks that are called are very well known and can be detected. Wow circle just to name one that i know of. This makes the whole reporting stuff completely obsolete and therefore reduces the work of the playerbase as well as the workload of the admins. So "proper reporting" should not be the solution for the botting problem in my humble opinion. I just wanted to check if warmane is looking to implement proper anti-botting measures at some point, which it seems they are. For now we are stuck with what we have and have to work with it.
