I got a question regarding the policy surrounding botting/automatic Auctioneer.
We all know botting is illegal, but where is that line drawn?
I have as of late detected a sharp increase of players on Outland, on the neutral AH sitting AFK and automatically buying low priced goods in less than 1 second, which is humanly impossible to do under normal circumstances. As you first need to search the AH, select the item and click the button to purchase it. The addon also allow a scanning of the AH with no Cooldown on the search compared to players without the addon. Which means a player with this addon can scan the AH almost twice as fast than players without.
Now this is obviously the result of AH addons being tweaked to automatically buy at a low price without the player being required to be present. In order to be sure of this I slaughtered the toons and while some of them stay put for several minutes, they all run back to the corpse, reposition themselves at another nearby neutral AH vendor in Booty Bay over and over. Same spot every time and often the same animation (sitting down). I should also add that some of them eventually replied via the mailbox, hence they are not "classic" bots.
Now this begs the question: Is the use of addons that automatically purchase auctions without the player being present to do anything/accept anything with greater speed and accuracy than what is humanly possible, legal or not here?
