WotLK The Purification OF Quel'Delar BUG!!!

So i have entered the instance of Sunwell Plateu after talking with the Warden, and i was in a raid group at the time i went to the forge with another dude who came i didnt see that he used his item too at the same time actually so i thought we will both get the next item, but we couldn't pick it up, so he left the raid group and got it, and then i left the raid group i got message that there is an action in progress. So i thought maybe re-logging will get my quest item back and i can redo it, but unfortunately i didn't get it back and now i have the quest and no item to use for the quest completation please help me! Please restore the quest item.

Just drop the quest and retake it from the last npc you've talked to. The npc will provide you with another quest item to do the sunwell-dipping part.

So if i abandon the quest i won't lose the progress i made ? And i can redo the quest?
