Curious if someone can break down the reason why you would want this for the price? It’s 150 coins when that 2hs (forget name) has the same dps but without the proc for 23 coins. Is it the proc that’s worth the extra coin? The prestige of the SM? Are the two weapons even really comparable? I just feel like I’m not understanding something correctly here.
Depends on what your intentions are. If you want to minmax your character to perform as best as it can - yes, it is mandatory. If you're just casually raiding then it isn't a must - you can do every content in the game with glorenzelg/oathbinder that you're able to do with Shadowmourne. It's still a legendary, though. For example if you are a paladin most simulations I've done put it by say 2,000 dps ahead of the next best thing. Would be less of a boost for the two other classes, I'm guessing, but still the best thing you're able to wield.
for a pvp ret, going from gloren to sm is a bigger dps increase than replacing a resil escape trink with a dps trinket, so suffice to say it's a pretty major improvement. Mandatory? Not really. Far from cost effective @ 150 coins, either. Seeing a bit less parries/dodges is also a nice QOL since that's the most frustrating part of playing a plater. With SM I have had streaks where I have not landed a single white or yellow attack on a dk despite swinging at them for a good 6+ seconds. Fairly common for me to lose all 5 Seal of Vengeance stacks to this if i stay in 2h for too long as well.
Most of your kill windows come in CC's anyway so it's not a make or break deal or something that makes SM bad, especially since gloren's expertise won't eliminate the problem altogether anyway.
The "DPS" on a weapon means jack ****.
What your looking for on shadowmourne is the "Damage" and the "Damage" is what makes your abilities hit harder, combine that with 114 Armor pen (Which is the most overpowered stat in wow ever) Instead of "Expertise" and 300 str from 10 proccs to then explode for 2100 shadow dmg AoE (which gets increased for UH dk's that have shadow damage increase) To then procc 270 str for 10 seconds.
Lets look at example, Tier 10 heroic chest for DK, Gives 193 STR, and thats the best chest you can get, Shadowmourne gives 270-300 STR from the procc ALONE.
You have to se it for yourself I guess before you can realise how much 270-300 str actually is at "bis" gear and how much of a dmg increase it does.
The reason it goes for that huge price is just because of how overpowered it is, and everyone running around with one would make this expansion very dull to say the least, it should be special, it SHOULD be rare, and IMO even thought I bought one, it shoulden't even be available for coins.
