1. PvE firemage versus Ret Pally, what are the chances you win as the fmage?

I'm currently playing and enjoying the lvl 80 geargrind as a full on PvE fmage, not a drop of resilience, not a single PvP talent, I have Dragon's Breath and (glyphed) Blast Wave for free flamestrikes even though most people remove those at this point.

Let's say you took the best fmage player in the world with that kinda setup against the best ret pally in the world, in how many scenarios would the fmage win? Let's say the the three common scenarios are:

    1. The paladin swoops in and gets the first hit(s) in
    2. The mage swoops in and gets to initate from range
    3. both start at 20-30 yards from each other fully prepared for a fight

I'm asking cause as a full on PvE fmage I get completely rekt by absolutely anybody that decides to rip me a new one, my question is, should I just shrug it off, resurrect and do something else while they swoop the area, or are there things as a PvE fmage I could be doing to stand a decent chance of victory against, in this instance, a retpally, in those 3 scenarios.

  2. Best chance is to find high ground and initiate. If the paladin can't fly to it, he can only run. On even ground, the pally will just shield and walk towards you immune to everything. It's a really stupid concept that blizzard came up with. Nothing in this game should give you immunity to anything. Reduction? yes. Not immunity.

If you can blink far enough after he blows a shield, you might be able to burst him down. If he has engineering, you will die, no matter what.

You have to force them use the shield ability. Once that's done, you have a fair chance as a fire mage.

In the end, it depends on the player's reaction time. Some are really slow to realize their hp is depleting and just die before they can turn around. Take your chances :D

  3. If it's best mage in the world and it's open space area then all three scenerios mage win. If there any obstacle then paladin win.

Why you chosen Ret pally as opponent? Why not DK or Hunter? These will be most problematic enemies for you.

No the concept isn't stupid it's one of the few things that can save you from casters good luck using damage reductions that get dispelled instantly or spell stolen again casters.

  5. Anywho if the pally bubbles make sure you're far away from him at that point and use invisiblity if you're not simply iceblock and you should kill him in that 30 seconds gap as for your scenarios all three of them the fmage will comeout ahead as Fiutolog already stated.

  6. I'd say the fire mage has a pretty low chance if pally has CD's up. Fire mages are THE squishiest class in the game. You'd need RNG on your side for some quick crits to stand any chance.

They heal, bubble, hand of freedom, lay on hands, stun, move quickly, And the gear itself lends itself to high health pools. Don't forget that pallies with their CD's up essentially have two lives to go along with all that.

It would become a much more even playing field once the pally can't bubble or LOH.
