WotLK Selling toons, which were used for scams.

Hi all.

So a few moments ago I saw a player, who wanted to sell their toon via the trade system. So far so good, until I noticed the name of the marketable character. I rezognized the toon, because roughly one year ago I got scammed by a player with a similiar name, race and class. Now, the purpose of this thread is not to name and shame the responsible person, but just to ask a couple of questions:

What will happen, if a player scams someone with their toon X and manages to sell it via the trade system? Will the buyer get screwed? - ban appeal tickets have the lowest priority after all. Can the warmane staff track the original scammer account? I assume they can, because the trade should be mentioned in the account history of both the seller's and the buyer's accounts.

Characters don't have account status tied to them so trades won't have any impact on the buyer's account history or the seller's.

In that scenario I'm not sure if they look into trade history but I haven't heard of this kind of issue playing out so I imagine they do check.
