No characters

I used to play a lot until 1-2 years ago, and today I decided to return. I reseted password and successfuly logged in, however, I couldn't find my characters. There was only 1 on TBC Outland server which I did not really use. Others from Wotlk server aren'r here. I don't know if it was some wipe, but is it possible to recover my characters? I really invested a lot of time in those characters and would be happy if I could return.

EDIT: Some of them appeared, I just needed to login into the game and rename all characters.
