20 FPS (40 man AoE scenario) on top of the line computer (dec 2019)
Hi,
i have a computer with the following specs : i9 9900k (8 cores), Geforce RTX 2080ti, and 16Go ram @3600, SDD 512Go Evo. So it's top of the line, as far desktop gaming computers go in dec of 2019.
I should be running this goddamn game at 500000 FPS no matter what it throws at me, but no, instead my FPS dives into the low 20s whenever i'm in a 40 man raid and everyone goes AoE crazy. (we're doing the EoF farm event)
I mean... 20FPS! It's not like i'm running this game on my phone, come on!
Now, after reading a number of forums, i learned that it is due to how the game was coded back then, for 32 bit systems, and that the game cannot use more than 1 or 2 cores, and no more than 2 gigs of ram. Ok, i get it.
Now though, we're in 2019, WotLK was released 10 years ago . So is there no way whatsoever to fix that?
So far i tried to add the SET processAffinityMask "0" line to my Config.wtf file, it didn't work. I tried to add SET maxFPS "0" too, didn't help. I tried to use that program that supposedly makes it so that WoW.exe can use up to 3 gigs of ram.... it did help either. Also, tweaking my Nvidia settings to max performance for WoW.exe doesn't change a thing.
Nope, that's wotlk for you.
Just feel free to jack your settings up as high as they go, you won't see any performance decrease. You'll have a much better time in a more common 25man raid or PVP (except for AV first battle).
