1. TBC class choice - help!

    Hi guys,
I’ve been wanting to start to play in TBC server, but there’s a problem. I like both PVP and PVE, and i’ve been thinking what class to pick. My class is rogue (mostly pvp) that i know all the way through, and as an alt i almoast always have had priest for healing (mostly pve)- have only played TBC.

And now i feel like in a dead end. I’ve tried basically all the classes and specs (except warrior-just not my thing at all), and i’ve been overthinking what class/spec i should pick, and i just can’t make up my mind as i’d like to experience something different, but at the same time i don’t really feel myself as any other class.

Warrior - no go. too slow, no mobility which i care about the most - not cool class Asthetic wise- no spells, magic, tricks nothing.

Paladin - kinda cool class as i like holy spells and all, but i don’t see myself in any of the specs specially in pvp. Feels too bulky..

Hunter- i really like the class and the story behind it, but in reallity it just doesen’t work - in pvp everyone nukes your butt unless you are some super god, in pve you are 1 button class, which is sad. In arena you just basically drain like lock which is just boring as hell

Shaman- kinda cool class but has never been for me. Pvp- Even tho it has ghost wolf i feel it is too bulky and slow, no cc. For pve- was thinking about ele, but it is also 1 button spec.

Rogue- i love it for pvp, pve not bad too, but i have had a rogue in every tbc server ever.

Druid- was my first class which is very diverse. In pvp resto seems a bit to boring, and as for feral too hard to master- not enough patience xD As for pve - i was thinking maby about feral druid as an off tank/cat, but then i think that sitting in just 1 form without any gear visible would make me feel like a boring warrior and without any asthetics i would get bored. Cause you’re always in 1 form in pve no matter the spec, boomkin could be fun.. at least 3 buttons hah :D

Priest - i love priests, both shadow and holy/disc, but have also played a lot with them. Not too much pvp tho- only as shadow.

Mage- seems really fun, i like the mobility and all the cool spells and survivability. But in arena mage doesen’t scale so well, as tbc top teams are always heal + some kind of meele class. That kind of worries me. In pve- 1 button would kill me. But i guess those are all caster classes basically no?

Warlock- seems like a cool class but i’ve never been able to play it for real. Once i ding and start pvp everyone woops my ***. I guess the lack of any burst also makes it a bit boring+ no mobility. In pve- one button again.. sad story. And as for pets- they are cool while leveling and PVE,- but as for pvp it is the same as with hunters- once you start to do real content after hitting 70, they feel more of liability to deal and manage them- i like my indepenfance ^^

I know this isn’t an easy question. I am mainly looking to do pve, but also want class to be reasonable to do pvp once in a while. As for pve- i’ve always mostly been healer 90% and rest meele dps. I’d like to try caster or tank, but the problem here is casters are 1 button thing, and tank is too much responsibility- kinda like you need your own guild, as you always have to be there and thers is mostly only 1 tank needed anyway.no?

Maby i’m wrong, any tips, help? I’d really appreciate your opinions guys. Thank you!

  2. Priests/warlocks are the best for pvp in tbc. Play what you want but don't expect much on a dead server.

  3. I think you first have to ask yourself "what role do I want to play?"
For instance, do you enjoy healing others, or do you enjoy killing? Do you enjoy fighting from a range, or right up in the opponent's face? Do you enjoy being support, or do you want to be out front, tanking and protecting the team? Do you want to play pvp or pve? And do you aspire do be an elite player, or are you more chill, and just want to relax and have fun without being too tryhard?

Once you've asked yourself these questions and found the best answers for yourself, then you can start to narrow it down into the best class and spec that fulfills these responses and go with the one that feels the most fun and rewarding. And then there are always alts to make. I enjoy pvp. Years ago I only did high-end 25 man raiding. Now I never set foot in dungeons unless it's to help a friend with something. Sometimes I feel like healing, and sometimes I feel like killing. I have multiple characters designed to do each. If one isn't clicking for me that night, I switch to a different one. This game has been around for so long in part due to the plentiful options and playstyles it offers. That's the best answer I can give you.

  4. I played TBC high and low, and from what I read, I believe mage is the only correct answer for you.

You want mobility, and you want to be independent. Mage gives you both, actually is pretty much one of the best in both.

For PVE it's great dps, everybody needs it for CCs, highly sought for from heroics all the way to SWP. May be boring, with regards to clicking the same button, but every single class does that.

For PVP it's a beast in duels (it has its counter classes), has a high skill ceiling, and in 2xDPS teams is pretty much the best class.

I don't see how you can go wrong with it.

  5. Throw in my 2 cents I too played 1000s of hrs in TBC. Hands down the craziest savages were locks spriests, rogues and hunters. This is my memory of wide open 1v1 WPVP or duels without pillars to hump. Thing is every class has their hard counters so ppl all have different opinions.

An ungeared clothie is an absolute joke when you first enter a bg LMFAO. Once fully pvp geared a mage or lock can do very well but it is gonna be trickier in a bg for a clothie you really have to know proper positioning its not a faceroll lets charge mid WHERES MY HEALS FFS kinda class (in an equally matched bg)

I mained a spriest back then and pvp is my one love. Shadow was really good but i had my super hard counters like ROGUE equal gear and skill its basically a loss. I went full disc PVP and was virtually able to win any 1v1. Locks were harsh, hunters could just mow me down if they got the jump and were good.(when i was shadow) You say hunters no good in pvp but no way a good hunter was cancer it was just that 90% of hunters were so bad it was criminal.

I too want that class thats good for pve, good for 1v1 and also good for bgs and you know what... its called a dk

I have to agree with the priest or lock thing but you know when ppl say play what u like there's alot of wisdom in that, if you don't like a playstyle (i hate rogue pvp style for example) then you aren't going to master it plain and simple you won't have the commitment.

From what you posted I say mage or priest. Heres the kicker though. NO DUAL SPEC. You gonna respec everytime over n over? I'm no expert but you could PVE as frost mage and maybe have a spec that would be sorta half decent for pve and pvp just a thought. I also had raided full pvp shadow priest spec in full pvp gear and had topped a raid and it wasn't uncommon for me to hit top 3 (not leet raid grps but still lol)

Idk how srs you wanna be raiding but if u go shadow then its GG when that rogue saps u and they r everywhere amirite. Mage is likely the best rounded and with commitment u can wtfpwn most anyone. But on the other hand i'd say shadow has a far more interesting rotation. Find a coin and flip that ****!
