Hey guys so our guild is raiding icc, and we are experiencing a problem with saurfang where sometimes he oneshots somebody from full hp. We havent tried it that much (maybe 15 tries), but our dps are learning how to handle the bloodbeasts and we pushed him to enrage a couple times (pretty close to killing him actually), except sometimes he does bloodnova-bloodboil on the same person and one shots them, which is kind of annoying because we have to stop the try (checked the logs and the 2 damage instances happen .4 secs between one another, for around 25k). We dont have access to a disc priest.
Does anybody have any advice regarding this particular part of the fight?
The chances of that happening aren't that high, but we are basically hoping not to get wrecked by rng at any attempt. Is there any practical way to somehow mitigate this?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Make sure people play their class correctly.
Meaning they should do the correct rotation with the correct gear set up to push dps.
More dps = shorter fight = less rng bad luck
Have them use a personal defensive when they get a debuff.
Make sure to have all buffs.
You can buy gbok/motw/pof buffs from ah so you won't miss them when raiding.
Level up cooking if you haven't and put a feast for a additional buff.
Assuming you have atleast 1 prot paladin.
Let him spec into "improved hammer of justice" so he can stun 1 of the beasts every wave.
Let the melee focus this beast while the range takes care of the other.
Let 1 of the tanks taunt the beast when it's are reaching the range so it isn't able to hit them.
You could also let a dk use "chains of ice" to slow it.(preferably a dk tank)
If you don't have a disc..
Try to let a shadow priest (if you have one) shield the person getting the debuff.
It's a ez 10k absorb.
Also make use of some consumables.
This results in more dps/heals ofc.
Same goes for proffesions.
Make sure everyone has them to again push for better performance.
Last but not least, spread properly but i don't think that's a issue when i read your post.
A 5k raid should be able to kill dbs fairly easy if people know how to play their character properly.
You guys are just having some bad luck when it comes to rng.
Goodluck I'm sure you'll manage to progress soon!
Some classes that are good to have for DBS are.
Hunters for frost trap to slow the beasts, Boomkins to typhoon them when they spawn.
Also having 4 range dps and 2 melee helps a lot with controlling the beasts. And have the range focus the beast that is furthest away from them.
If you are getting marks having a ret paladin to DI Saurfangs target as he is casting the spell will prevent him from getting the mark (night elfs can also shadowmeld to dodge the mark if they are the target)
Blood boil/nova is physical dmg so clothwearers will take more dmg, if they get targeted a paladin can use one of their spells (forgot the name) to reduce the dmg they take and prevent them from dieing to a bloodnova.
hezente summarized it pretty well and I'd just add that it's doable without a ret pala DI
key is to have good cc on beasts (hunter traps, DK chains, moonkin roots, stuns, etc) and we did it in a way that 1 beast was cc-ed and all went other one using crossfire
all players use their own defensive abilities when they get Boiling blood or Mark
have your mage buff whole raid with Amplify magic since all raid dmg taken is physical
