I think I misunderstood this whole thing. I needed a "private" server.
I' ma cut right to the chase, I thought this was a private server... but like actually "private".
Was there any way to privatize it for me only? Was this option not a thing at all?
When I fixed my repack and fired up the client I got from warmane I was psyched...But then I started seeing other players. So I think it will sound very selfish but I don't want to play with other players on a private server. I'm skeptical sometimes and I feel my information is unsafe when connecting like this online.
Is there a client where I can play solo, like the WoTLK client? I have that and that works perfectly.
Sorry if this comes off a little crude but I was desperate for a private MoP server.
Last I checked, WoW is a MMORPG, a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, not single player. :) Also, Warmane does a dang good job at securing accounts' information, so I wouldn't be worried about that. You should look into, what a private server means before assuming. :)
The term 'private server' only refers to the way the server is administrated (privately, in this case by Warmane).
As a MMORPG, World of Warcraft by design is tailored to a multiplayer experience (dungeons for example are tuned for 5-man clears, as are certain quests), so yes, what you're looking for unfortunately never existed in the first place.
But yeah, you don't really need to provide any sensitive information (short of an e-mail address to sign-up) to play, and you can also use VPNs to mask your playing location. So why not give it a try?
I'm well aware that WoW is designed to be played multiplayer. I do play retail after all, but sometimes I like to get away from it all and just bullcrap around in my Wrath private server, stuff like GM commands and creating customs items, NPCs...stuff like that.
Welp, **** this post then, guess I was wrong to believe such a thing could exist, I'll keep looking though. Cheers...
You can easily run a server locally, there's plenty of guides online that show you step by step how to run a server on your own computer.
And if it's just you running around the world, porting and doing normal stuff then it won't be an issue to run on even a low to mid range CPU these days.
